There are many Kenmore Elite models with numerical identifiers. You may be able to replace the rinse aid door, or you may have to replace the whole door, if parts are available.

The most common problem with the door not latching is the top rack not being completely in the back position. Check the rack to make sure that there is nothing jammed and not letting the rack completely close, also make sure that water tube lines up. On most models there is not real adjustments for the door latch.
F2E2 is a failure to communicate with the user interface board. This is caused by either a faulty user interface (the board with the buttons) or quite commonly it can be the main wash pump as the main control uses the same wires to communicate with both and a bad pump will interfere with that communication.
There is no easy way to tell which one is the problem but i have found that any evidence of a leak on to the wash pump will cause it to fail.
Turn off power to dishwasher at the breaker or fuse panel.Turn off water supply usually found under sink. Remove the front kick panel and remove water supply line from the valve, remove clamp to hose on dishwasher and remove hose. Remove electrical connectors from the inlet valve and remove screws holding valve to cabinet . Reverse steps to install. Slowly turn on water and listen and look for leaks if all is well turn on the power and start washing.
The water inlet valve is defective.Turn off the power and close the valve to the water supply line Remove the kick panel on the front of the dishwasher remove the supply line, the clamp to the supply hose, the electrical connectors, ans the screws holding the valve. Reverse process to reinstall. Turn water on and check for leaks Turn on power and you are good to go
I too had problems with the Kenmore Elite (aka Bosch). The issue was solved by replacing the Lock Sensor on the door. After replacing the sensor the dishwasher has been working. Hope this helps.
If it is doing when it is washing, then it likely to be a problem with the pump, but it might just be 'hunting' because the filters are partially blocked. There is the filter that you can see easily, but there is a fine filter underneath that blocks with fine grey lint.
Water left in the bottom can be caused by that because the drain pump is past the filter and is on a timer.

To open the Kenmore World class dishwasher, follow these means:
Press-and-hold down the "Sani-Wash" button for somewhere around three seconds until the showcase screen counts down from three to nothing. The red "Lock" Drove ought to now douse and you ought to now have the option to get to each of the buttons on the control center.
If you're experiencing an ERR code and flashing lights on your Kenmore dishwasher model 587, it indicates an error or fault in the dishwasher's operation. Unfortunately, without specific details about the error code or which lights are flashing, it's challenging to provide a precise solution. However, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Check the owner's manual: Refer to the dishwasher's manual for a list of error codes and their meanings. It should also provide troubleshooting steps specific to your model.
2. Power cycle the dishwasher: Turn off the dishwasher by unplugging it from the power outlet or shutting off the circuit breaker that supplies power to it. Leave it disconnected for a few minutes to ensure a complete power cycle. Then, plug it back in or switch the circuit breaker back on.
3. Check for obstructions: Inspect the dishwasher's interior, specifically the spray arms, filters, and drain pump, for any obstructions such as food debris or foreign objects. Clean or remove any blockages that you find.
4. Run a diagnostic cycle: Some dishwashers have a diagnostic mode that can help identify the cause of the error. Refer to the manual for instructions on how to initiate the diagnostic cycle.
5. Contact customer support: If the issue persists or you are unable to determine the cause of the error, it's recommended to reach out to Kenmore customer support or a qualified appliance repair technician. They will be able to provide further assistance and help resolve the problem.
Remember, the specific steps and options may vary depending on your dishwasher model. Consulting the owner's manual is always the best course of action when troubleshooting appliance issues.
Unfortunately, that sounds like a control board issue, although if you are lucky, it is just bad connections _to_ the control board.
They are expensive so need correct diagnosis by a tech. Then you get warranty on the parts and the job.

To determine the age of your appliance, use your serial number (not model number) to find date of manufacture. Kenmore serial numbers begin with two letters followed by six numbers. The 2 letters at the beginning of the serial number tell you the month and year it was made.
