Clutch lever drops out by
There is a screw that hold the lever. If that screw gets loose the lever gets loose and drops down when get jerked or passes through bump. A short loop of chord around handle and drive housing which seems to do the trick.-----------
Open the round cover and have a look.If the belt looks worn out it also needs to be replaced.check the tension of the belt as it is an "over center" clamp so should stay engaged even without the aforementioned bump.If the belt tension is loose then it has to be made proper tight ,if its got worn out then it needs to be replaced.
-------------
There are many other ST 4000 Ray-marine users facing the same problem:---
some users mentioned that they attach a small length of elasticated cord to the binnacle (like thin bungy cord) and this blocks the lever from dropping by itself or getting disengaged.
-------------
In some other cases, this was the reason of problem:--- Read as follows:---
The lever moves a cam that tensions the belt. The pin that locates the lever position relative to the cam gets corroded. This cause the cam-position-to-lever-position relationship to change slightly which means that the lever didn't quite positively lock (due to the belt tension on the cam). If this is the case in yours then it can be fixed temporarily with a handy bit /nail or drill bit of something to take the place of the pin until you could get a new lever and cam assembly.---------------
This troubleshooting will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Same problem as Beouffe17. ST4000 used to work
No data would have to indicate a problem with the GPS input, I would think, although I've never had one of these. Check the cord, it could be defective. Couldn't find much technical info on these units on the net, but some parts aren't available anymore, so that's bad news. Anyway, hope this helps.

Making a fast beeping noise and is freezing up
Remove the connection to the drive unit and check if freezing persist. If not check drive motor and cable.
If freezing persist and compass is ok the control unit is faulty.
Verify if the compass reading is ok in four directions on standby.if not check compass or compass wiring.

MKII E12093 Wheel Drive
Try to make new brackets for adapting to the screw holes on the rim ATTENTION the screws should NOT
go deeper in the rims as the original ones as they will interfeer with the internal parts and damage will result.

Can the 12093 operate without something else. just
The wheeldrive is only a mechanical actuator ,it will not pilot ,it will only drive the wheel ,you need a control unit ,several 4000 or 3000 units are suitable ,
some have an internal compass others need an external compass

Remote on my Raymarine ST 4000 stopped working -
If the remote is the wire type ,check continuity of the wires in the cable ,specially at the bending places where the cable comes out of the connector and the control unit.,Cut away internally broken part of the cable, and solder again respecting the coulours ,or change the whole cable respecting the connections.

I have an older ST4000 AutoPilot and this summer
You can check it in 2 places:
1) the back of the control head
2) the motor itself. The wire plugs into the motor or the shaft coming off the wheel portion.
You should have approx. 12 VDC coming from the control head to the motor.

Feels like it is engaged when disingaged
Normally the belt should be slipping around the drum if the pilot is disengaged, sometimes the belt does not slip smooth due to the conditio of the belt or dirt, grease or oil on the drum inside ,take the unit apart ,check for belt condition, exessive belt tension ,if necessary belt tension can be adjusted on the rear of the backplate.
