I have a Lowrance LMS

Hi, well the best thing to do is to add suppressors to your spark plug leads, OR get Suppressive Spark Plugs, themselves, (Recomended) and Capacitors on ALL Positive Connections to Earth
I recommend , 0.1uF 500 V AC CERAMIC, or Axial Polyester Capacitors.
Capacitors DO NOT conduct DC, therefore, ONLY the AC "Hash" component of the signal is affected. the AC flows through, the capacitor, and then to earth.
Also make sure you Earth connections are good and robustly attached, to clean metal surfaces, and then cover with Petroleum Jelly.
You can get suppression Capacitors from almost any Car Electrical place or a Auto Electrician. They are easy to fit, and make a huge difference.
You need to do it, on the Coil, the Distributor and all spark plug leads too.
Another good thing to do as well, is to convert your car to a "Points-less distributor" Usually one can retro-fit a Sensor in place of the Points, this makes a remarkable difference. Of course some cars already have it.
Again with any thing that's using a Shielded Cable, (Coaxial Cable), then, add capacitors at each end, of the cable, put a Capacitor, from the "Shield" to Earth, at each end. Then any signals "Induced" into the "Shield" will again be routed to earth.

Every time I try to

Hi

First of all double check your power and grounds and check your transducer if it is connected and working ,it might just be a bad connection.

Try connecting the GPS module directly to the network instead of a cable and see if it works.

try to find a unit that uses the same antenna and do some swapping. Take your antenna into a store with display units and see if the problem persists.

Please also try these steps;

Do a hard reset on the unit. Make sure that you have saved your waypoints before doing this reset. This reset will erase all memory in the unit.
Turn unit OFF.
Press and hold the ZOOM IN.
Press and hold the ZOOM OUT.
Press and hold the POWER KEY.
Hold all three keys in until the USA Map appears.
This will put the unit in a cold start mode; it may take a few minutes before the unit will lock on.

the GPS should be up and working in no time

I purchase a lowrance LMS-520C about 18 months

Quite often those transducers go out. Not 100% sure but would bet money on it. Call Lowrance customer support and see if the offer any more advised but more importantly see if they can replace your current one as a replacement instead of you having to pay full retail price. I purchased a new gps module through customer support and saved $150 off the normal retail price. Best time to call customer service is at 8:15am central time when the lines are turned on!

Won't power up. pretty sure its just button

Hi

The first thing you need to check is the power cable. If the cable is fine then please make sure the power connections are clean. Also check fuses and connections. It has four wires; red, black, green, and white. Red is the positive lead, black is negative or ground. Make certain to attach the in-line fuse holder to the red lead as close to the power source as possible. You can even get a volt meter, unplug the power cable and test for 12VDC across the two bigger female contacts on the power cable connecter. If you are getting 12VDC, then the LMS-520 is bad. If you are not getting 12VDC, then you have a bad power supply, connection, or cable. If still you face the same issue then you have to service the unit, contact the manufacturer go to http://www.lowrance.com/en/Support/My-Account/ . You can also contact them by phone, call 800-324-1356, press option 1, and follow the prompts to get your RA status.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee
