Check the Positive and negitive terminals It may not be seeing the voltage it needs , I have a strike 7 and it did a similar thing , as soon as the load from the transducer is on it wont load ,, Mine was the dirty Neg cable to the bus bar under the dash
Check for corrosion on pins and make sure that you have enough power, not with volt meter but test light. It is probably not cost effective to repair older unit
