How old is this vac? I ask because newer cordless systems use better battery technology with memory on charging. If it is fairly new then it could be a loose charging port. If it is more than 3 years old you may need to think about a new vac unless you can physically change the battery. (Li-Ion/newest and has 'memory', NiMH, NiCd are older).

The motor must be physically disconnected from the lifting arms.

The power supply is no longer working for your vacuum cleaner and the power supply needs to be replaced. In that case it would be more easier to buy a new vacuum then to try and repair the current one that is not working.
