Hooking up a 36 volt charger to three 12 volt

first of all do you have 3 or 4 batteries your cranking battery is not to be wired into this 36 volt if you have 4 batteries you have 3 for trolling motor and 1 cranking battery look on your charger see if the banks or numbered 1 2 3 4 .... you got to find what battery is # 1 depends on how they hooked in series if you hook charger on wrong battery most the time a red light comes on telling you wrong battery move wires till green lights come on all batteries.# 4 goes to cranking battery if you only have 3 batteries you don't have 36 volts you have 24 volts and a cranking battery if so # 3 goes to cranking battery

if they are fully charged then they both will stop charging

Minn kota trolling motor has forward but no reverse

Don't know what Minn Kota you are talking abut but my 55 pound Thrust one does NOT have a Reverse.... When I want reverse I swing the Prop all the way around so it is pulling the boat backwards..... I just checked it to refresh my memory......

Plug in gets so hot you cat touch it

well for one when it get hot like that you got a short check the wiring to see if you have it wired right

When you series batteries to get 36 volts you have two batteries that are connected positive to negative, I have a four bank charger for my batteries and I am concerned that the two batteries that are

no problem put neg on neg pos on pos on each battery but make sure you have charger on the battery it goes too look on your charger see if the banks are numbered 1 2 3 4 put 1 on # 1 and so forth # 4 goes on your cranking battery if you get a red light on charger then you have wrong wire on wrong battery and yes it will make you pull your hair out till you get it right . . .lol
