I have the same model stereo in a brand new hot tub that was having the same issue. To fix it all u need to do is pull the front cover off to access the pump controls and in there you will find a black box where a power cable runs yo the stereo. There are two screws that open a little door in the black box. In there you will need a small flat head screwdriver to move a redswit over to the 110 volts position. Turn the radio on and it should work. That black box just controls the power to the stereo.

Sounds to me like the radio itself is defaulty. You said you just purchased it, what kind of warranty did your boat have? More then likely the radio would fall under bad electrical wiring and a replacement of the radio would fall under that. I would demand the person that sold it to you, that same radio in an other boat, and prove to you that it does the same.

If a boat is anything like a car, the amp's negative post should not be connected to the battery, but to the ground of the boat. In a car, the entire chassis is grounded to the negative terminal, so when you run a line from the positive terminal of the battery to the positive post on the amp, and a line from the negative post on the amp to the chassis it is a complete circuit. I highly recommend placing a fuse on the positive line from the battery to the amp. Wiring this way prevents the amp from blowing up your battery, as well as prevents the battery from blowing your amp. Hope it works.

Then two Deep Cycle Gel Batteries, one for the marine electronics, fish finder etc, and another that powers the front bow mounted Trolling motor. You will find them in the deck lockers. Open them, release any tie downs, undo the cables and lift them out for Winter storage. I keep mine in my garage and I put them on a battery minder for 24 hours once a month. I would clean the fuel filters and empty the water retainer filter then do some testing.

When revved up it should be generating about 13.2, to 13.8 volts and supplying to the battery. The videos below should help. Although the first one is an inboard, the theory is the same. On an outboard, you can disconnect the linkages, verify that the engine is in neutral, then adjust the linkages to fit. Then adjust the slack with the same amount of turns on the adjusters. Lock the settings and that's it.
