I recommend you do not use a steam cleaner on laminate flooring. We bought an O'cedar mop and bucket with a built in spinner to get the majority of the water out of the mop. Make sure to push the spinner foot lever a least 6-7 times. If you still have too much water on the floor, spin it more.
Don't use harsh cleaners. Murphy's Oil soap is good, but not too much or it will be sticky. I like the O'cedar because the mop can be popped off the handle and washed in the washing machine. It snaps back on easily. The bucket has a handle and a place on the bottom that makes it easier to empty.
One note:
I pressed the spinner lever too quickly on my first one and after a while the gear stripped.
They are not expensive and I've found them at the dollar store and Walmart.

Got hair in and around shaft and bearings. I use a peir of needle peirs. Do not cut hairs or etc. Pull them out.

If it's 2 years old it's probably worn out. Most Dyson and Shark rechargeables are only good for 2 years. You can check the output voltage with a volt meter.

Take it to your local vac shop for repair. If you do this wrong you will break the plastic tabs and it won't go back together fully.

Try pressing the button and wile pushed down sliding your finger off the side to make it snap up.

If it's overheating (auto reset thermal protection) and cuts off afer the machine warms up, then it may be motor venting, brushes, bearings, voltage, problem(s). The battery may also have internal protection that cuts off its power supply... not much of a solution for your Sharkie.

I had a shark vacuum as well the only thing i can tell you is do not put it on the lowest setting for carpet pile height. My shark also had lost a screws on the bottom so when i did adjust for height it didn't move the adjustment properly or yours could be broken. Put it on its side and turn adjuster to see if it moves properly and don't use bare floor selection for carpet easy to mistake that selection when we are in a hurry and turn that dial one click too far.
