has your amp been accidently swiched to stereo instead of mono,if so,swich it back.

if you have real old wires from the amp to the sub try getting new wires on it. check the little wires that go to the cone itself on the sub. sometimes they can manage to get pulled out of their terminals and make sure that thier touching the terminals on the correct spot

well does the amp power up when you turn your key on and when you turn the radio on? if so check your RCA cables they might not be carrieing a signal. if the amp is not powering check your main inline fuse to see if its blown, also make sure to clean your ground wire connections as well. a dirty ground will cause your amp to not turn on also.

the regulator or the audio ic may be colapsed.replace them .

When you were playing back to the friend, were you playing louder than usual?

Was the old box ported, and the new one sealed? The lack of ventilation may have caused the blow...

bad connection. try hooking up a different test speaker to your amp. if it works you can trace the short into your sub. if not the terminals in your amp may need to be re-soldered.

It doesn't sound like the wiring from amp to sub is your problem.

Is your amp getting a power light ?
Are you sure your remote wire is hooked up properly ?
Check both ends of your RCA cables

It sounds like you have a disc stuck and it's overriding any commands. I would put the key to acc. Then I would unplug the cd changer from the back of changer and after a min or 2 plug it back in as you hold down on the eject button
