If you can't set the alarm function follwing the instructions of a new watch, might mean that this watch is defective and should be covered by warranty. You can check with a reputable watch repair shop, you should be able to replace with generic parts and save a good amount of money! If not then you can always send it back to Festina to have it repaired!

The steps are like this :
1. Pull the crown full, and turn it clockwise until you find the right day.
2. and then push it one click (dont push it to hard so it back to normal position) and turn the crown counter clockwise to adjust date.
3. Push the small button near the crown to adjust month.

and voila... the problem solved

Nope only way is to remove battery but they only have a limited shelf life so would only last a few years longer than the one you are using

Go to http://www.festina.com/ , click on "downloads" and put your watch model in the search box and click on "search". You will then receive a copy of the manual you require.

Pull out the crown, push the chronograph start button. You will see that the hand moves one second. once it is back to zero push back the crown. Depending on your model you might need to pull out the crown with one click for the chronograph timers and another click for the second hand.
