LG (GCC-H23NB) CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive Questions & Answers
My drive can not read dvd
Yes lasers that read dvds work on a slightly different frequency so as laser wears over time, especially when burning instead of just reading it effects the ability to read and or write to DVD media and it is why reading and even writing to cds can still be done but not so with dvds. Might be time to replace it.
Can this burn using dvd+r
is it only using nero that it does not detect your blank dvd ??

Dvd drive cant read dvds
First of all, are you trying to read Blu-Ray DVDs? Unless your drive is made for them, it won't be able to. The same may be true if you're trying to read a dual-layer DVD. Not all DVD drives can handle them.
CDs and DVDs need different kinds of laser light to be read, and a combo drive like yours is essentially two drives in one. Sometimes a problem develops in the pickup and it can read one kind of disc and not the other. My experience is that it's usually the DVD function that fails more often. The data on a DVD is much more densely packed and harder to read.
Try making sure the discs you're trying to read are clean. If the problem is affecting all the DVDs you try, replace the drive. New drives for a desktop computer only cost around $20 to $30 and they are easy to change. In a laptop, the drive will be more expensive and maybe hard to find; in that case you may want to consider a USB external burner as a replacement. This is also an option for desktops as well.
I need driver for cd rewriter/DVD-ROM Drive LG
Unless you are running a very old version of windows, your CD-ROM should be automatically detected and drive installed upon startup. Check your BIOS settings and make sure there are no conflicts there.
My dvd rom LG can't
DVD / CD /DVRD or all very cheaply made and it doesn't take much for them not to read. Sometimes they don't like the brand of CD your using or there are fingerprints on it. You can also get a CD cleaner and run it through to see if it needs to be cleaned.
You can get a new one for about 29.00 - 39.00, so there not to bad to replace.
I can play CDs but
Often problems such as this can be solved by updating firmware . without knowing anything about the model might i suggest visiting lg.com and searching for instructions on updating firmware.
My cd-rom is not visible i don't no what to do to
Well , i would suggest to check the device manager first if not listed under my computer.
to check device manager. Click on start and click on run , type devmgmt.msc and click ok.
if not listed then a power issue or connector issue if listed , then simply right click and uninstall it.
reboot the pc....this is should help.
Thanks.
The problem with my LG HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-H23N is
Combo drives have 2 lasers inside of them. An IR laser to read CD/VCD and a red laser to read DVD. It sounds like your laser to read DVD discs is dirty or has developed a fault. A replacement drive would be your best option as they are now very cheap and it will resolve the issue quickly.
Hope this helps,

My LG combo drive HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-H23N does
Try to open the device, and clean with some medicinal alcohol the lens of the drive, and clean the dust from it.
Assemble it and see if it works. In this cases there is a high opportunity for the client to make an upgrade and buy a DVD-RW
NEW gcc-h23n will not read anything
If not reading DVD is a pattern (it won;t read ANY DVD, no matter if it's a burned one or an original movie) then the lens is dead. I'm afraid you'll have to go get a new one (new drives are very cheap, usually around 25-30$)
MY LG GC-H23N READS CD BUT NOT READS DVD
THEN U NEED A DECODER OR INSTALL A DVD RW..U HAVE ONLY A CD-ROM THERE 4 IT ONLY RECOGNIZES CD'S U CAN C IF YOUR SYSTEM IS ELIGIBLE 4 A DVD PROGRAM BY GOING TO WINDOWS SUPPORT FOR MEDIA OR JUST CLICK ON YOUR MEDIA PLAYER N HIT UPGRADE IF U HAVE MEDIA PLAYER 10 OR LOWER..
