Nikon D60 Digital Camera with 18-55mm lens - Page 4 Questions & Answers
Just bought Nikon D60. No matter what mode I use
looks like a viewfinder has an issue. If you have recently bought the thing just return it and get a new one. If not possible to replace , i recommend visiting Nikon authorised service center.
Could be something in the path of pentaprism.

How can i repair my D60 Nikon lens? It wont zoom
Sounds like its damaged, if the zooming is stuck. It might have fallen causing internal parts to damage.
I strongly recommend contacting Nikon service for this kind of repairs, because its far too easy to trouble the glass if you open it. I mean even if you manage to fix the issue many things can go wrong inside and the lens wont be come out clean. Better to leave it to professionals here.

Error Message
Try to take off the battery and reset the camera. You can also try to remove the lens and check the mirror opening..see if there is some thing stuck there. You can try to click the shutter while the lens is removed. If this procedure didn't work I suggest calling Nikon for further repairs.

On the viewfinder, parts of the picture flashes
It sounds like you have the display set to show image "highlights", this is a mode that shows parts of the picture that has become over exposed and have no detail contained within that area, in other words the parts of the photo that are pure white.
The camera Highlights as one of several different modes that can be flicked through after looking at a photo you have taken.
hope this helps

Nikon D60 Digital SLR--Slow Shutter Speed
Your're probably using a flash with TTL disabled. So 1/200 is the highest sync possible with that kind of flash. Did you try removing the flash off the body and setting faster shutter speeds?

Where do I find serial number?
On the base of the camera there is a sticker that starts "Nikon Digital Camera D60".
The last line on the sticker is the serial number, it will be something like 6001048.

Need to change language on Nikon D60
Within the menu items that can be viewed on the back of the camera, there is a language option that you can set. You may have to scroll through all of these to get the correct setting. Nikon tends to change the menu layout from camera to camera, so it may not be the same in your D60 as it is in a D300 or other model.

Nikon D60 highlight
When you have the flashing highlight areas, press the down arrow on the command dial and it will scroll through various playback screen options until you get to the screen you prefer to view.

I use first time nikon d60.
it would depend on the lighting. you can lower down your shutter speed, or change the white-balance or aperture on the camera. make sure that your camera is set on manual. hit me back on the results.

Flash won't fire
If its the built in flash on the DSLR, then you'll need to bring it to a service center.

My nikon d60 is starting to take forever to show
In your manual you will find how to change the display format (picture only, histogram, etc.). The time it's taking to display your image "might" be that your memory card is getting quite full and you're shooting large images. I shoot a D80 and it uses an SD card. Make sure you but a fast memory card if your camera does not buffer the inage before writing it to your memory card.
