1. Turn the unit on
2. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button
3. Press CLEAR, 1, 4, 7, 0, CLEAR - "TEST MODE" will appear on the display.
4. Press UP; "00 XX" (XX is a numerical value) will appear on the display. The first two digits are incremented by one, every time you press UP
5. Press the UP key until you see "12 XX" (default is 24) on the display
6. Press 2, 3, ENTER
7. Press UP key again and you will see "13 XX" (default is 23). If it does not say "23", press 2, 3 on the remote and then the ENTER button
8. Press the UP key again and you will see "14 XX" (default is 01).
9. Press 0, 0, ENTER
10. Press RETURN
11. Press CLEAR twice
12. Press RETURN ("END" should appear on the display)
13. Press OPEN/CLOSE

For starters, the Chinese have a totally different set of coding than most anyone else. So you would most likely actually have to buy a dvd player out of China to read it. Otherwise, get teh right codec's for your computer to play it on a dvd rom drive for the computer. Im sorry that this may not be what you are looking for, but ive learned from buying a lot of foreign movies, that you most often have to buy the playing equipment also from the country to play it.

Considering you have a standby light we know the hot side of the power board is working, next step is test the power on signal coming from the main board, it should be marked on the legend on the power board what pin is power on, will be marked PO_ ON PWR or something like that, you need at least 3 vdc there when you turn the set on, if it's missing replace the main board, if you see voltage replace the power board, easy simple fix with only one measurement, verses guessing what board is bad. Appears to be a software problem. Unfortunately, some blu-ray players contain software that expires, requiring you to repurchase newer, more expensive software from the manufacturer in order to continue to play blu-ray discs. Check your software for the player. No freeware blu-ray software out there.
