hi,
Do one thing set the control behind the sub. set the level and cutoff control at it half position. Set phase control at "0" position. Then test the sound. if you ate using tower speaker as front speaker then you have to set the position of phase control 180 ,
ok
What do the phase and cut off controls do,manual
Phase reverses the polarity of the driver so it can be matched to the other speakers and bass-reinforcement characteristics of its position in the room. You don't want the sub 'sucking in' while other speakers are 'pushing out' or a bass cancellation will occur.
Set it, listen to bass from your normal seating position, reverse it and observe if the bass gets subjectively better. Leave it in the 'better' position.
Cutoff is a variable for the highest frequency where the speaker 'cuts off'. You can experiment with adjusting it for what sounds to you like the smoothest transition betwen the sub and the othere speakers. You don't want a lot of audible overlap where the sub and other speakers are acting on the same frequencies. It may sound to bassy in that area.
My jamo sub 200 & pioneer vsx517 receiver is not working properly
What do you mean that it sometimes doesn't work? It doesn't power on automatically?
Check settings of your receiver - if it has subwoofer output enables and if low frequencies from all channels are directed also to the SUB. By default only the LFE channel (.1) of 5.1 signal input is fed to the subwoofer. So Sub will work in this case only when you listen to 5.1 signal (DVD movie for example), but for radio or stereo music, only front speakers are used. By configuring this bass redirect, you can use subwoofer for all signal types.
