I have a Acer Aspire

Either same problem or that you messed up your PC's board the more. You might be having solder (lead) bridging two components together on the circuit board; especially if you were not careful enough when replacing the faulty DC converter. This time around, maybe its good you take it to a professional electronics repair shop for assistance. However, if you feel up to it, then take it apart and look closely at the components on the motherboard close to the DC converter for any undesired solder linking two components together (which ought not to be so). Be carefule while at it. Best of luck

Wont start up, wont load windows

Start laptop and click ALT+F10 - you will enter recovery partition (Note: if there is important data, then don't use destructive recovery).
If recovery fails then you will need to replace hard drive.

The orange light blinks a couple of times then goes off and after that the green power light blinks once with the antenna light

Blinking orange lights means no power or low power. Not enough to power the laptop. If it is plugged in and still the same, then your charging port or charger is damaged.

H-L DATA STORAGE DVD WRITABLE/CD-RW DRIV

The great thing about Optical Drives is their standardization, and you normally don't require a driver for initial setup. It is not seeing the drive or the disc is not bootable. Or, both. You need to make sure it has power. Then check BIOS by pressing an F key noted during boot (F2). The drive must be listed or this is your point of failure. You may have to physically reseat the drive. Next make the CD\DVD first boot and try again. Check disc on a different PC to insure it is bootable.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Setup from Windows - Make sure it has power (ejects). Check Device Manager in Safe Mode by pressing F8 during boot. Right click My Computer > Manage. Select Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices. Now delete all DVD/CD-ROMs and reboot. Windows will say "New Hardware Found" and install.

Sometimes when the charger connector breaks, it shorts out the charging module on the motherboard, blowing it. It can also blow the external power supply.

If you can find someone else with a similar power supply, try using it. If that doesn't work, you've got bigger issues.

Battery can be used to

The problem is most likely the DC connector in the computer. I have replaced many of these. Normally what happens is the connector is stressed by moving the computer while plugged in stressing the connector. It could also be the DC converter board but .... that would probably affect battery operation also.

To replace the connector, you have to completely disassemble the system down to removing the main board.

I know that you are unable to start the current vista operation system and getting the error 0xc00000e9; the issue can be caused by the damaged system files or hardware device. You might first follow the steps below to exclude the possibility of system corruption.

Method 1: Use the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) to run System Restore

======================================================

1. Insert the Windows Vista installation disc into the disc drive, and then start the computer.

2. Press a key when the message indicating "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD ...". appears.

3. Select a language, a time and currency, and a keyboard or input method, and then click Next.

4. Click Repair your computer.

5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, choose the drive of your Windows installation and click Next

6. At the System Recovery Options Dialog Box, click on System Restore.

7. Follow the System Restore Wizard instruction as usual and choose the appropriate restore point.

8. Click Finish to restore the system.

Method 2: Startup Repair from the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE)

======================================================

5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, choose the drive of your Windows installation and click Next.

6. At the System Recovery Options Dialog Box, click on Repair your computer.

7. (Click the operating system that you want to repair), and then click Next.

8. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Startup Repair.

Good luck!

Can u tell me how

Place your restore disc you received with your purchase of this lap top. Then follow the on screen directions. I'm assuming now that you do not have a restore disc you can go online and download it if it is available or contact customer support they will provide you one for your lap top. This is what I would do? John

My accer 5740 comes up with status error

Researching microsoft resources, this looks like it is either a registry error or possibly a system BIOS error.

Please tell me what happened just prior to you receiving this error? How old is the laptop? Have you made any changes to the laptop recently, either software or hardware?

If you have a recovery partition, you can do a non-desctructive recovery to see if you can restore your windows installation to a normal state. If you have a restore disk, you can do the same thing, you will restore the computer to factory settings. However, you may loose your documents and files if you are not careful.

You can also try to start the computer and hit the F8 key, which should bring you a menu. See if you can start in safe mode. If so, try and use system restore and find a restore point on a date before you started having this problem.

You can also look for the correct key to go into the setup before the computer tries to start windows. The key is often the F2 key or the delete key. Your screen may tell you after you see the acer splash screen. If you get into the BIOS setup, you can look for the key or selection to reset your BIOS.

I have included a link to the ACER support page for your laptop. The tab you will come up on is a bios download. But there are driver downloads, applications downloads, patch downloads and user manuals.

Please respond after you have tried my suggestions.

Brian

Most likely, you have damaged system files.

You didn't indicate, but figuring that you have Vista, run System Recovery:

1. Insert the Windows Vista installation disc into the disc drive, and then start the computer.
2. Press a key when the message indicating "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD …". appears.
3. Select a language, a time and currency, and a keyboard or input method, and then click Next.

Acer 5050-5554, computer will start but blank

Could be a dead screen or bad screen connection.

Try connecting it to a slave screen using the VGA connector and "Fn" keys. If that doesn't work you graphics card/chip is at fault.

If it does work its a screen problem, you could remove all power sources and try to get at the screen connectors. Usually under a panel between the keyboard and screen hinges. Be careful, they're usually clipped and screwed in, hard to move and easy to break.

Look for your screen and inverter connectors, ribbon connectors with a wide narrow plug, make sure they're home and good. If not you've possibly found the fault.

If they are home and good, you've probably got a screen or inverter fault. Time to get a tech.

When I start my laptop, it say Oxc00000e9 problem.

Hi ,

This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer.U can also do this disconenct all the external devices and then check if you get the error message or not.If you dont get the error it means that there is an external device that is causing the error to come and to find out the faulty device check by conencting one device at a time and restart .
You ca also try this step, turn the computer off and then tapp the F8 key repeatedly as soon as you release the power button after pressing it .Keep on tapping the key until you get a black screen that says advance boot menu option. Then select safe mode and hit the enter key ,wait till it takes you to the log on screen.Once you are there click on admininstrator and hit enter key ,check if you get the error or not .If u dont get the error go to start?run?type msconfig?hit enter?you get the system confuguration page?click on the the start up tab ?click disable all ?apply?click on the services tab? click disable all ?apply ?click on ok or close to exit from the page and then clik on restart when it prompts you to .Then the computer will take you to the normal mode check if you get the error or not if you dont then there is a program that is gone currupt and is causing the error to come up .To find what program has gone corrupt again go to the configuration page and then enable the startup programs restart the computer if u dont get the error go to the servoces tab uncheck one or more program restart and then check so this way you will have to isolate the program that is causing the error to come up and once you find the program just uncheck that particular program this will take care of the issue .

hope this post helps you ....all the best
