Ebac CS60 Dehumidifier Dehumidifier Questions & Answers
My ebac will freeze up unless I turn it down to a low setting. What could be wrong? I have cd 30
Just adding this as I found a basic design fault with my CD30... basically the defrost function runs after about 50 mins of operation, but what was happening was the unit was cutting off (because it had lowered the humidity to the set level) before the 50 mins had elapsed. The unit would then start again (with the coils still iced up) but never run for the 50 minutes needed to activate the defrost.. so a massive iceberg ended up building on the back of the unit!
I modified the wiring of the unit so that the timer board is always powered, and the humidistat switches the neutrals of the compressor, fan and solenoid. This has totally cured the problem. Any decent electrician would be able to do this mod in a few minutes.
I think the defrost circuit design has changed on newer models (probably because it was rubbish!!)

My ebacs 2650e has the red light illuminated but is not full of water.
Hi, I have the same issue. I took off the plastic backside and managed a work around by removing the brown cable from the micro switch. It is now running again, but it won't get a signal when the water container is full ... so be aware when you start running it !

Ebac 6200 got no power
Plug a lamp in the socket and see if it works. If it does try the unit, if it does not do anything look for a reset. If you cannot find that (there may not be one) get the schematic and trouble shoot the unit.

My ebac 2650e has started shuddering when on the
The fan is mounted on a very poor quality 3 angle mount. The weight of the motor distorts the mount over time so the the fan starts clipping other fittings when spinning. You can turn the mount around so the motor hangs upright again. The latest EBACs are of very poor quality...

Ebac 2850 made rumbling noises and shook now not
If the room tempature is close to 60, the coils may be frozen (completely encased in ice). If this is the case, move it where the water can drain off - about 1 gallon which may NOT run into the drain bucket.
I out mine over the floor drain.
Turn off and it will defost over night.
Only specially made dehumidifers work below a room temo of 60 degrees (the temp of a basement in winter).
Does it need to be running? A digital humidity sensot from Radio Shack is cheap and may tell you the humidity is OK - only 50% or less.

I have a ebac bd80 and the coils stay frosted ,
Frost means one of two things, low refrigerant or low airflow across the coil. The unit probably has lost it's refrigerant charge ( or some of it's charge) even though it hasn't been used.

I have an ebac15 dehumidifier. When I moved it there was an oily liquid underneath. Why would this be?
There could be several reasons why you're finding an oily liquid underneath your Ebac15 dehumidifier:
Refrigerant Leak: If the dehumidifier is leaking refrigerant, it could result in an oily substance pooling underneath. Refrigerant leaks are often accompanied by an oily residue1\.
Compressor Issue: A malfunctioning compressor can cause refrigerant leaks and result in an oily substance accumulating underneath the dehumidifier.
Condenser Coil Leak: If the condenser coil is damaged or deteriorating, it may lead to refrigerant leaks and the presence of oil underneath the dehumidifier.
Internal Component Failure: Internal components such as seals or tubing may degrade over time, leading to leaks of refrigerant or oil.
Improper Handling During Transport: If the dehumidifier was tilted or handled roughly during transportation, it could have caused oil from the compressor or other internal components to leak.
Given the potential hazards associated with refrigerant leaks, it's advisable to discontinue the use of the dehumidifier and consult a professional technician for diagnosis and repair.
