There is usually a rubber gasket inside the spout/spigot - this is called the diverter. This gasket can wear out or crack over time. Sometimes you can fix or clean just the rubber gasket, but most times it is easier and quicker to replace the whole spout/diverter. They are usually screwed on and will have teflon tape to seal the NPT pipe threads. Easy fix.

This is going to sound foolish but prior to connecting the in and out lines, did you check for a plugs on the input and output ports to keep the pump clean? I only ask because I didn't. If it isn't that...I have no idea. Good luck. Semper Fi, Z
