No sound

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall both the sound drivers and the sound card make sure you have both of these devices backed up to a disc before uninstalling a yellow? question mark means you need to install/update driver to do this right click to install driver also click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound, video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers click start control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers make sure you have selected the (((appropriate speakers))) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there also click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar if his does not fix the problem

have you tried this control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select the appropriate speakers from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand, system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer hope this helps don

I m looking for common

Driver files can be found at btjunkie.org this is a place I go and get them. If you need future drivers. More than likely you can get the mother board drivers from your disc set provided for you at the time of purchase if you kept them.
You will also need utorrent software as well it is free to download get the software here. Click Me go to the search box type in drivers use this example, XP drivers. There are lots of them you can put on one disc and then insert the burned disc with the downloaded driver files in the ROM drive and point to the driver that has a highlighted yellow triangle or a question mark in DEVICES window which can be found in the control panel or right click on my computer then have the disc ready to be pointed to find the driver during the update driver files link RIGHT CLICK to access the driver update options.
I have used the 700,000 or the 50,000 or any one of the large files of drivers and have been able to repair computers for folks that do not have driver discs that came with there computers. It has never failed me.
You might run into an .ISO which is an image file to download some drivers get the MAGICISO software program at btjunkie.org.
This should enable anyone to find drivers that are hard to find. Use as last resort. Try to use your original discs first or order a lost restore disc makes life easier when installing programs into your personal computer. You may also use paid for Driver update software as well these work pretty well and not to expensive which saves you lots of time and efforts as well. I use driver genius as one of my main programs you can also find this at btjunkie.
Thanks for using FixYa for all your questions. Do not forget to vote for me as well if I helped you. John

I recently updated to windows

You'll need to access the computer manufacturer's support site to find the appropriate 64-bit driver for this chipset. If you post the make/model of computer I can probably assist with that.

Hope that's helpful.

The LED lights up but the computer does not boot

Your Computer is not POSTing, I recommend removing the BIOS/CMOS battery for about a minute then reinstall it in the correct orientation. This will reset the BIOS/CMOS, and bring the settings to defaults.
Clean your computer with a vacuum and paint brush, pay special attention to your CPU cooler, make sure sufficient airflow is achieved. Ensure all components are connected, clean the RAM fingers with tissue paper. Also do you hear the beep of the BIOS when a speaker is connected on the output pins. It's the pins that are located near the header for power and Hard drive LEDs.
Does your PC beep at you if you power on your PC without RAM installed, it should. If it doesn't then this confirms that your computer Mainboard is faulty.

However more often than not is your Mainboard that is faulty, the best thing to do is return it, if it is under warranty. If it is not under warranty the you will have to consider purchasing a new Mainboard.

I would like to upgrade this processor, what do Intel 2140

I would recommend upgrading to something with quad-cores and something that will fit into the LGA775 socket.

You can go with a Core i7 but that would require you to upgrade your mobo and your RAM. Costing you about 400 more dollars.

So I would recommend a Core 2 Quad Q8300 from intel.
