Using a thermometer ( IR if available ) what are the cylinder head or exhaust manifold temperatures ? This may isolate problem to one or more cylinders. There are more than one injector, did you check them all for fuel point of delivery? make sure cyl 1 is at point of delivery when flywheel is at delivery mark. Did it make a noise when it stopped? You may have lost a timing drive train? Has the fuel rack been shutdown due to a control signal? Please check these things, along with obvious sensor inputs

problem with the governor controls if electronic controlled governor it could be the electronic system is faulty If manual control , check for governor lever operation check for fuel flow problems , blocked filters , low fuel level vent ing for the fuel tank blocked
