Wd 1 tb - shows no disc space left, but the files on it don't take up much space.

Depending on the Operating System you are using (i.e. Windows or Mac OSX etc.), they deal with deleting files in different ways. In the case of an Apple Mac, it doesn't actually delete you files, but instead moves them to the recycle bin which is located ON your external hard drive. This means that in order to make the space available, you have to empty your recycle bin on your desktop whilst the hard drive is plugged in and it will empty the folder for you. Or look for a hidden folder on the root of your Hard Drive called Recycle and delete it (it will be recreated by your system when your system needs it). Alternatively, 1TB is a large drive meaning that it is possible that your file structure has become "fragmented". Don't worry yourself with the specifics, but if you right-click on the drive and access the Properties, choose the Tools tab and use the Defragment tool. Also it might be worth using the Check Disk For Errors option, although Defragment is more relevant in this case. If you run through these basic troubleshooting steps listed above I hope you will gain access to your cleared space.

It keeps on telling me i have a problem with

Hello this error means the partition information on the drive is damaged. Most often this happens as a result of the drive being unplugged without first being ejected or from the computer it's attached to crashing.

In either event, if you can copy files off the drive back to the computer it's attached to, do so, then format the external drive and it should be fine.

If you cannot fix it this way or if you have trouble getting files off te drive as well and need them retrieved answer back and I will help you through the next few steps or lead you to a pro who can help.

Hi. I once saw a book titled '200 ways to revive a hard drive' but it all comes down to two main Truths. The hard drive has failed do to circuitry or mechanical break down or there is an I/O conflict and your computer does not recognize it. You be the judge. There are companies that repair and or save the data but it can be very expensive. Good Day

No space error

This is due to the file transfer limitations bound by the file format FAT32 (no files larger than 4GB and no folders that contain more than 1000 files). Try formatting the drive to NTFS.
