My refrigerator/freezer has the sound

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
First I would check cold control. Thats where you turn it off, if your temp is not warm. it can
be defective and not shutting off. If your temp is warm proceed with the following.
I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath
Check cold control (thats where you turn it colder)

Hello! We have a 2005 whirlpool gold side by side.

Many people have had problems with their refrigerator compressors not starting and wonder what may be the problem. Many times the problem can be traced to the start components. The start relay and the start capacitor work together to help the compressor get started. By giving it a short extra shot of higher voltage current, it gives the compressor the kick to get it turning up to speed.

The capacitor is the long round tube on the top of the box that houses the compressor terminals and the start relay.

The start relay is pushed right onto the compressor terminals C and R. It also has two wires that go up to the start capacitor. The relay can be removed by just pulling out on it away from the compressor off of the pins.If your refrigerator compressor is not starting, you can change the start components easily, to see if they are the problem. Usually you will have about a 50-50 chance of the compressor working again by changing these parts. If you are looking for the configuration of the compressor terminals, here is a picture of the terminal cover that shows which terminals are where.

If the refrigeration unit is leaking very slowly the loss of charge may be so subtle that you will not notice it till the unit basically stops cooling completely. Then all of a sudden you realize that you have a problem. If this is your problem, you will notice that the compressor is running, the circulating fan(s) will be running, and the condenser fan is running. Everything appears to be perfectly normal, but you are not getting the cooling from the unit that you need.If you have this situation then there is often not that much that you can do. To recharge the unit you will need to find a technician that is certified to handle refrigerants. The system which is charged and sealed at the factory will have to be tapped and the proper refrigerant added to the unit. Even then you still have a system that is leaking and the fix will only be temporary. Sometimes the leak point will be obvious, other times the leak may be very difficult to find. Most of the time, the leak will be next to impossible to find and repair.Bottom line here is that you will have to make some hard decisions about the repair of a leaking refrigerator or freezer. If you get refrigerant added to your unit it will be a temporary fix. If you can find the leak and it is repairable, you will have a bill for that repair also. That bill may be more then the unit is worth if it is a basic model or an older model. In many cases the purchase of a new unit may be the best option. var m_userId = 4731334;var m_threadID = 9545624;var m_productID = 902787;var m_categoryID = 139;var m_brandID = 0;var m_campaignID = '';var m_gclid = 0;var m_countryID = 221;var m_us = 8;var m_ptype = 897;var m_objtype = 0;var m_objid = 88;var m_usrinp = '';var m_referres = '532,897,173,899,173,897,173,897,83,921'; Event.observe(window, 'load', initLoggers); var clearedd = false; function sech_clr_man() { if(clearedd) return; var txt = $('txt'); txt.value = ''; txt.style.color = 'black'; txt.style.fontSize = '17px'; clearedd = true; } function addman() { if(!clearedd) {return false;} var txt = $('txt'); if(txt.value.indexOf('manual') == -1) { txt.value = txt.value + ' manuals'; } return true; }

Temperature won't stay at required temp

Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking same part needs replaced. The water valve at the bottom rear of fridge
First I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also if it is getting drinking water to the door but not to the icemaker (or vice versa) Then you need to replace
the water valve at the bottom rear of the fridge. It is a double valve and one side is not working

In the refrigerator section, the freezer and

The control board that is on the back outside panel of the refrigerator needs to be replaced. Unplug the refrigerator and remove the protective cover that you will find over that control board. Document the locations of the wiring connections or take a digital picture of the control board before removing any wires so that they can be reconnected properly. Remove all of the wiring connections and replace that control board. Reconnect the wires and reassemble the refrigerator.
Here is a link to the part you need.

I have a Whirlpool Gold refrigerator, side door,

HI.If the motor works and everything is fine except it WON't gives you cold, then the problem is on the FREON/REFRIGERANT.It is located near the motor. It is actual responsible in cooling the fridge. If this is the problem. There are possible reasons. The FREON substance content will mno longer enough to give out cold to the system or possibly there is a leak on the seal of the FREON.Now the substance in the FREON is very harmful to health as well as to the ozone layer. That's why it is properly sealed making sure that substance in it won't leak. Now it would be better if you gonna consult it to an A/C tech for them to have it check and confirm if it really does and they will be the one to replaced it and have it disposed properly.Hope this idea helps.Thank you for choosing FIXYA.

Compresser doesnt come on

Hi,
To direct you to the correct part I would need a model number. But you can look at the compressor relay and see if its burnt out. Unplug the unit, remove the back panel, some newer models are board controlled and older one are relay controlled. I would need more information to assist you properly.

Icemaker is producing very little

Check the temp in the freezer should be between 0 to 10 degrees.
Most IM'S will not work well unless it is below a certain Temp In other words 20 degrees won't get
it but the freezer will still freeze.

Water leaks from in-door water

First look in on the menu of the main panel ..and see if it has a feature called reset to factory settings ...This way you will avoid keeping settings that may cause it ...After that check the freezer temperature ..and set it somehow below 32 F cause this is the freezing point ....(Im talking about the freezer and ice maker not the fridge compartment ...in the fridge you should have about 41...42 )
Also check the coil behind ...and not to be frosty ..if it is ...use a hair drier to defrost it completelly ..and after that wipe it dry ..and restart it...If the leaking is still going on ..it means this is a physical damage ..and you will have to check it to a professional ..
Good luck !

Hi, I just found a

If water appears to be leaking from the back of the refrigerator, check that the water line from the household water supply to the refrigerator is not damaged or cracked. Check all connections that are accessible such as the connection at the supply valve and the connection point of the supply tubing onto the back of the refrigerator. Check that the tubing is firmly inserted into all fittings and all fittings are tightened.

Leaking from under the door

On exterior dispenser models, if water appears to be leaking from under the refrigerator door, look and feel under the door to ensure the water connection to the dispenser is properly done. Firmly push the water tubes into the fitting.

NOTE: This connection was disconnected if the doors were removed during installation or if the door swing was reversed.
