If your freezer is icing up, one of the components in the defrost circuit failed. This circuit is made up of the defrost heater, defrost thermostat (both located in the freezer section close to the evaporator coils) and a defrost timer (newer unit incorporated this onto the control board). The defrost heater and thermostat can be checked with an ohm meter (10-100 ohms common - infinity bad component) but the defrost timer can't be checked without specialized test gear.NOTE: If you completely defrost your freezer, it should give you about two weeks of normal operation before the problem comes back which gives you time to troubleshoot the components and order the parts.

It probably still MAKES ice, it just doesn't dispense it. The ice drawer may be blocked. Remove the ice drawer, empty it, rinse it through with luke warm water - including all non electrical moving parts, dry thoroughly, replace, give the machine time to replenish the ice, should solve your problem. Assuming it is just that it is only that it is blocked.

is not being melted by the defrost system.The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater,heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info

is it a frost free ?

This problem is very common.The ice maker water passing line gets clogged or blocked by ice cube or gets frosted by ice or the water valve,which lets water to ice maker,tray, that valve gets faulty.

The ice maker not working.-------------

Its the problem of water inlet valve. It's a dual valve. This valve has two tubes in it. One for water dispenser and one for ice maker chamber. The one side of valve is working, but other side of the valve is not working. The valve is got stuck in one position

The cold control needs replacing. Thats the knob with the numbers that turn the Ref OFF and ON.
What I do is call my local Appliance Parts Store with my model no. They are extremely helpful .
Get freezer and ref thermometer. Ref is probably too cold.
Freezer should be 0 to 10 degrees. Ref 33 to 35

The higher the number you turn it up to is the coldest
But is probably a common defrost problem The ice build up
is not being melted by the defrost system.The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.

The drain in the freezer behind back lower panel
needs opening. You can see it at the bottom of the back panel
underneath the evaporator coils. (The cold coils)
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
When the defrost melts the water it goes down the drain
If the drain is clogged with Ice or ? The defrost water
overflows into the ref. or freezer or on floor
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear

Hi!
A relay starts the compressor with a higher voltage and then quickly kicks out
It does a lot of clicking (trying to start over and over again)
If thats what is happening with yours
Its best for a tech to replace The relay but you can do it
Take your model number to your Local Appliance parts store they will have a diagram
showing you how to install the relay. Its called a hard start relay
I use part no ERP410 POWER START RELAY, CAPACITOR AND OVERLOAD all in one. (110 v)

Hello there,
When your ice maker is not getting water into it, it simply means the water inlet valve is clooged with dirt and have blocked the valve from getting water into the ice maker.
Your icemaker's water inlet valve could be filled with ice. If it is, simply thaw the its water tube with a hair dryer to remove the blockage. Be careful to not melt any plastic parts with the blow dryer. An icemaker's water inlet valve has a filtering screen to block minerals and other debris from entering into your ice cubes. It is possible that the water inlet valve's screen is blocked, and not allowing any water through to make ice. Clean out any built up debris you find. You should be able to pop the screen out of place with a screwdriver and then put it back in place with the screwdriver again once it is cleaned.
Alternatively, the water inlet valve itself may have become defective. You will have to test it. If the test proves the valve is defective, replace it.

In most cases something has blocked the vent from the freezer. Sometimes you catch this at a point that the freezer seems too cold but just what may be happening is the ADC control has failed causing the evaporator to freeze over with frost blocking air flow to the fresh food section. The ADC is Adaptive Defrost Control and can be forund here=> ED5GHEXNL00 Fresh Food Section Controls in that photo location 6 is the ADC or defrost control board=> W10353224 Defrost Control Board If you disconnect refrigerator from power source and lower control panel you can look this board over on both sides. Sometimes you will see burn marks or signs of heat damage, not always.


Second most Likely is the defrost heater behind the rear wall of your freezer=> ED5GHEXNL00 Unit Parts and in that photo part location 33 is the=> 2188175 Defrost Heater Assembly


Ways to test this heater are on same page. Then we always need to consider the defrost thermostat found here=> ED5GHEXNL00 Air Flow Parts item 6 in that photo. At -5 to +5 degrees the contacts inside should be closed and once the freezer goes into defrost the defrost thermostat opens its contacts at 50 degrees to prevent extended defrost. Part Number=> 2321799 Look inside rear of the freezer and if a layer of frost is building on rear wall then you most likely have a defrost problem causing the freezer to be colder. If fan in freezer is working properly then you should have a steady stream of cold air flowing to the fresh food compartment. The Freezer temp should be 0 to 10 Any thing below these temps is overkill and a waste of elect
The higher the number you turn it up to is the coldest
But is probably a common defrost problem The ice build up
is not being melted by the defrost system.The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater,heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath
Make sure back cover is on the fridge. Some take them off and throw them away.
make one out of cardboard if its gone, using the holes of the old one.
