From what you have said it sounds like you have the RROD - 3 RED RINGS

The main causes are Hardware failure, overheating or wear & tear.

You may need to perform simple maintenance, clean or in some cases adjust settings.

To get the best advice on where to start I recommend a GOOD REPAIR GUIDE, From this you can fix the problem at home and avoid any large repair bills. Its easier than it sounds when you have help from the guide.

i am sorry to say, red ring of death or Rrod is a common and serious xbox problem indicating a general hardware failure. google those terms and you will receive very much information. likely you will need it professionally serviced but perhaps you will be able to use a do-it-yourself solution. the problem is most often associated with overheating and its affects on internal components.in the future it is recommended, as prevention, you keep your xbox properly ventilated, distanced from other components, and/or maintain some amount of active cooling on the unit (like a fan), especially during extended periods of use... also it is likely better for the long term health of the unit that you lay it horizontally rather than vertical as you reduce the stresses of gravity in addition to the great heat produced which may be causing internal components to become loosened from their connection to the mainboard.

while this is no absolute solution if you google halo reach disc unreadable you will find this is a very widespread issue with halo reach and there does not appear to be an absolute culprit or solution resolved yet. personally I would try to to maintenance on your internal disc/storage
dashboard/my xbox/system settings/memory/your storage device (ie hard drive) press Y on the control while your device is highlighted and do as much maintenance as your willing, I would clear out the system cache initially this is a positive maintenance step and could resolve your issue, all game updates will need to be re-downloaded, but you will not lose any other data. if this fails to resolve your issue you could try something aggressive like a format... but since the issue is widespread and being resolved, I would just try clearing the system cache first.

likely coincidental timing with a hardware failure likely with the cooling of the unit. if you suspect halo 3 downloaded something you can delete data from the hard drive in dahboard/my xbox/system settings/memory clear out halo 3 data or perhaps wipe/format the whole drive. more than likely the unit is overheating, try moving it to a clearer area, try pointing a fan at it (experiment with placement of the unit and any active cooling you apply) and see if the problem clears. try to clean any dust you can from the unit especially in the ventilation areas.

try another disc or two, try standing the xbox vertically or laying it horizontally, open the tray and check from obstructions, perhaps blow air into it, and if this behavior continues contact microsoft support as the unit is likely damaged.

you need to forward ports on your router. alternatively many routers have upnp (universal plug and play) to automatically do this and the xbox supports this, but some routers come with upnp disabled by default. i would first go into your router/modem and search for a upnp setting and enable it. if this is not possible or does not work here are some sites to help you with the process of configuring your router.

here is a list of microsoft certified compatible routers, which likely means they have an effective UPNP implementation and have been tested to support multiple xbox's at once.

if you are using telco or cable equipment you may need to contact them or go to the router usually .1 or .254 on your nat range (ex. 192.168.1.1) and see if you can get into it, often times its user pass admin/admin or admin/password or some such default, i would bet googling your equipment model will turn up a way to get into it.

Please try the following solution to reset the display :

1. Turn your console off.

2. On the Xbox controller press and hold the "Y" button and the right trigger.

3. Turn the console on using the Xbox guide button on the controller, NOT the power button on the front of the console.

This should now reset the display back to standard and you should be able to set your video up properly.

its dead call microsoft at 1-800-4my-xbox if your warrenty is up pay for its fix or fix it your self its simple but it can take time and not 100% gureted fix if you send it in they might send you a new one back depending on the condition

use a ethernet cable to plug in the internet modem and then to the back of ur xbox good luck!!

This is a problem occurring in all the xbox 360 consoles....... this is mainly because of the poor quality of the disc,.....as a result it leads to the damage of ur xbox lens..............use good original discs........the heating effect is due to the long usage of pirated discs ...

ok there is a problem with your ethernet port you can call microsoft at 1-800-4my-xbox try blowing the dust that can block the port and hope it fixes the problem or look at a guide to fix the error code your self
