How to test a frigidaire Freezer electronic control circuit board p/n 451704000

You can try reseating the controller. UNPLUG THE FREEZER FROM THE ELECTRICAL OUTLET. Get a wide putty knife and insert it between the door and the controller bezel on the right side of the controller. Pry the controller out toward the top first (comes out easily) by twisting the putty knife handle so the top of the controller pops out and then grab the controller toward the bottom and pull it out as straight as you can. Get some dielectric grease and put it on the pins at the bottom on the back of the controller you removed from the door. Alternately, you could put wd40 on a cotton cloth and wipe the contacts. Make sure not the leave any debris on the pins other than a little bit of grease or wd40. Insert the controller back into the door and plug the freezer electrical cord back into the outlet. I had some problems with the line voltage coming in my house. For a while the lights would flicker. I believe that this was a contributor to the problems I had with my freezer, which have lasted about five months now. I would intermittently find that the display was all lit up or that the led number segments would be dark, but a little red led was lit. Simply unplugging and replugging at the electrical outlet seemed to do the trick. Finally it seemed like it completely malfunctioned, not restarting after unplugging and replugging. Just dead. I finally pulled off the controller and put the dielectric grease on the pins and then whalla, it came on again without issue...well for 15 minutes so far. I had a feeling that the issue was the controller all along because the freezer itself never seemed to have any problem getting cold or setting the temp, just this problem of shutting down every so often (2-5 times a week). I'll post back again with an update.

Hello Michael - Sounds like the temperature control was accidently turned OFF. When this occurs the temperature control turns off the compressor, but does not disconnect the power to the light bulb or other electronics. Let's try activating the freezer by pressing the UP arrow until display shows "4" or desired setting. Allow 24 hours for temperature to stabilize. For future reference you can lock the control to keep from accidently changing the temperature setting. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if the unit's status has changed successfully. Thank you.

Freezer Will not freeze in some areas

Check the door gasket near those shelves. Make sure the condenser fins or tubes have adequate air flow for cooling (it looks a bit like a small but fat car radiator). In most freezers, this will be in the bottom in the back. You may have to remove a vented cover to check this. Usually there is a fan blowing air through the condenser. Carefully vacuum out any dirt in the condenser (the fins are delicate and bend easily), and verify that the fan runs smoothly when the compressor is running. Put a thermometer in the freezer right by the cold air inlet to verify that the refrigerant is doing its job. It should read 0 degrees F. or below (-18 degrees C). If it doesn't get down that far, the compressor needs to be recharged or replaced. If the door has been hit hard (somebody falling and slamming into it) the door insulation may be damaged there. Check to see if the outside of the door feels cold there compared to the rest of the door. If it does, the door needs to be repaired or replaced.

Hi. We've got used ("as is") Electrolux Frigidaire

Not sure if u still need help but the first thing I would do is remove the grills on the front and back and vacuum out the fins on the condenser...dust and grime collects here and will cause the unit to overheat and not cool properly....sometimes an air compressor can be used or air in a can for the hard to reach places. Tr this and see what happens...good luck

Frigidaire upright FFU17f9gw3 temperture light is on and food is starting to thaw. I put alot of freezer jam in freezer yesterday

If the control is "ON" and the compressor is not running, you will need a start relay... Make sure you didn't accidentally turn it off by pushing food against the control knob!

Sheet of ice forms on bottom and red light comes on Does not drain out, the reservoir is small black box

Your drain probably is stopped up with debris. The reservoir just catches the water and then evaporates. Clean the drain out with a small brush and thenour a cup of water down it to clear the line.

When I used to shut my door it sounded like a whistle, kinda like an elk bugle. Now it gurgles, like water in a tube.

Hello Tim; My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician. You do not have a major problem. This is a easy fix. When you open your freezer door and then close it you are pushing air into your freezer. This is where the sound is coming from. On your drain tube in the back that goes to your drain pain there might be a black rubber grommet on the end. The initial design was to put this restrictive rubber element from having air go up your drain tube. Over time the rubber dries and restricts the defrost drain and retains water. If you have this do what I do on service calls - remove it and throw it away. You may have a snake type drain tube to your drain pan. Once again the manufacturers engineers, with no field experience, decided to put a loop in the drain tube to prevent warm air getting into your unit. Well, the defrost condensate gets caught in the loop. That is where you are hearing the noise. The drain tube use to be a straight tube. And so, that is where we are back to. It worked fine. Manufacturers changed it and now us technicians put the straight drain tube back in.

Getting error code 36 hour duration

I appreciate your inquiry, friend!

Based off what you have described your Frigidaire freezer is displaying an error code of 36 hours. Normally it will display that once power has been restored, it is indicating that the freezer has been without power for 36 hours. Hold the "alarm reset" for 3 seconds and that should help clear out the code. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

When turning freezer on it buzzes and chatters what could be the problem?

there should be 120vac at the overload and relay on the compressor. if a 120vac is present unplug the freezer and check for continuity thru the relay and overload. if the overload and rely is ok you may have a grouned compressor or open winding at the compressor. perform a continuity check from the c-s then c-r then s-r then c-gnd then s-gnd-r-gnd. readings should be infinity, if not you have a bad compressor. the work should be performed by a trained appliance technician.

Error code 0F

Good Morning Stephanie Garcia, thank you for your post!

From the information you have provided your Frigidaire freezer is displaying an error code of "OF". Typically, an "OF" stands for power off, you should be able to press the up arrow three times in a row within five seconds to turn your freezer back on. If that does not help correct your issue you may want to perform a reset and you can do that by unplugging the power cord for roughly ten minutes. I hope this helps. -Matt

How do you turn off your freezer to clan it out and why does it run so long

Thank you for your post, friend!

To turn your freezer off you should be able to disable power from the control panel or you can disconnect power from your freezer to clean it out.

The compressor on your freezer will continue to run until the temperature has dropped to its setting. The thermostat inside of your freezer should tell the compressor to stop running. If you feel your freezer is running too long you may want to check to make sure the rear is cleaned out buildup of dirt or debris can cause your freezer to overwork. I hope this information is helpful to some degree. -Matt

Our Frigidaire frost frost free upright freezer from day one has frost build up on the food inside the packages. The frost is not a problem in the freezer itself, but on the food. Freezer burn occur

Hi Dale Dibb, thank you for your inquiry!

I understand that the food inside of your Frigidaire freezer is getting frost on the inside of the packages. I would recommend turning the temperature up inside of your freezer. Additionally moisture inside of the package would cause frost to develop on the inside of the food packages.

Please assure that all possible moisture has been removed out of the food packages prior to placing the items inside of the freezer. If there is anything else that I can help you with, please feel free to reconnect! -Matt

Moved. freezer worked but won't work at new location.

Hi friend, thank you for your post!

I understand that your Frigidaire freezer is currently not working in the new outlet. I would adjust the temperature to a lower setting to see if that would start the compressor to start cooling. Is your appliance getting power to it? If you could provide feedback regarding your appliance I would like to provide see what additional information I can provide you. -Matt
