Toshiba REGZA 42 in. Flat-Panel LCD HDTV - Page 7 Questions & Answers
Hi. I have a 42"
The best solution to this problem is to call Toshiba directly and ask for assistance. Any TV repair company/shop will probably charge you an automatic fee to assess the problem, and then tell you it's a very expensive fix. With just the model and serial number of your TV, an easy 5 minutes will get you the answer you are looking for.
I do not know the
You should be able to buy a universal remote to fix this problem.
Can you get into your main menu.? If yes, try reseting to factory default. If asked a pass, try 0000.this should do the trick.
Hope this helps.

I suspect the power supply to be slowly going faulty. Without the proper power going to the other components, EX: backlight inverter, mainboard, etc. The picture can become distorted and lines can appear from both the mainboard and T-Con board. Before you continue to run your tv, you need to get it repaired (powersupply) or risk further damage.
Please rate if this helped :)
Here is an example of a common problem on power supplies, popped capacitors:
Burn in lines after tv
Vertical problem.Loose connection need for resoldering the vertical section the vertical ic.
Cracked screen
The LCD screen itself often cost more then the tv set itself. If you have accidental insurance you might see if they cover this, otherwise this will make a nice lava lamp like art display for a bedroom wall.......
I have a 42'" LCD. IT IS ABOUT 3 AND 1/2years old.
Hi evansw591,
Power on the unit in the dark room then shine with the flashlight directly in
the screen, you will barely see the images. This is because your backlight is
not functioning. The following reason is the caused.
1. Power supply - missing
B+(supply voltage) coming from this board feeding the inverter board. This is
caused by faulty transistor, dried/leaky electrolytic capacitor, open fusible
resistor.
2. Inverter board - even
the B+ is good from the power supply, if the fuse, driver transistor, driver transformer
is faulty no output to the backlight resulting to black picture.
3. Busted backlight - even
inverter board is good but if this is busted resulting to black picture also.
Diagnosing the fault is technical and if you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't fix it yourself, I would
advice you to look for an experienced
technician to isolate the
problem.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.
I Have a Toshiba Regza XV55, purchased in December
I suspect that the switch has a fractured solder connection or that it went bad all together..The only real way to check the switch is to take the tv apart and check it with an volt ohm milliameter. If it feels like it is not clicking then most likely the switch is bad now. But if it feels like it is working correctly it is most likely a fractured solder connection and needs to be re-soldered, The only other variable would be that the connector is broken or that it just came unhooked. That would be an easy fix. Good luck. HDTV GURU JAY.....

Hallo,
Terima kasih.
THE SCREEN WAS HIT AND
If you have Accidental Insurance Cover on your household insurance or covered by other means then you will be offered a replacement TV. If not there is no cost effective answer as to have it repaired is generally more costly than a replacement item.
Contact and authorised Toshiba service cetre for advice.
I have a 42" Toshiba flat screen. It was a floor
Electronics stores don't sell bases for TVs.
Each TV comes with one base, each base comes with a TV. The only way to get a replacement base would be to contact Toshiba and ask them directly for a replacement. For this to work, you'd need the model number of the tv. This can generally be found when you look at the back of the TV, it will have the label on a small sticker somewhere on the back.
Once you have the model number, try doing a quick search on Ebay. Someone may have an old base there that they no longer need, otherwise you're stuck with a wall mount or with contacting Toshiba.
