Haier 45-Pint Dehumidifier - Page 5 Questions & Answers
What does code E2 mean
E2 Indicates that the filter needs to be removed and cleaned. It's a good idea to clean the filter at least once every 2 weeks, as standard routine maintenance. Be sure to turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit, before removing and cleaning the filter. You can access the filter by pulling on the filter frame handle on the right side of the unit, behind the front louvers. You can either vacuum the filter or wash it in warm soapy water (dish washing detergent), rinse it and dry it thoroughly, before reinstalling it. A hand held hair dryer will dry it pretty fast.
Hope this helped you to solve the problem.
After one year, the dehumidifier sounds like it is
It may simply be the case be a case of 4 things: Any of which can cause the problem.
1. The air intake filter is dirty or clogged.
2. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32%.
3. Obstructed
air flow around the unit. You must maintain a minimum of 12" clear air
space around the entire unit, while in operation.
4.
The ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 & 60
degrees F. This is true in basement applications and the unit will not
function properly. Unless it's a Low Temperature unit. Placing it up off
the floor on a sturdy table or counter top that can adequately hold the
weight of the unit, plus a full bucket of water, usually solves that
problem.
Worse case scenario, the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas. But, that doesn't happen that often.
Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.
I have a Model HD456 that drips most of the water
Your Haier is missing one or more pieces of duct work to guide the water to the basin (missing from the factory). The Haier is a terrible unit and has low ratings on every site I've seen. I would give up on it and start over.
Cut your losses and buy a Frigidaire Dehumidifier, 70-Pint Capacity, FAD704TDP. These are rated well.
I personally have the DeLonghi DD50P 50 Pt. Energy Star Dehumidifier with Patented Pump. It is noisy and the fan runs constantly to circulate the room air then turns on the compressor as needed. It works great and on-board pump allows you to empty into a sink instead of a floor drain. I just don't like the constant noise.o
My dehumidifer is not drawing any water, but the
There are several reasons this may be happening. The 2 primary reasons are the humidity extraction level is set to high. Lower it to 35% . The lower the setting, the more moisture/humidity is extracted from the air. The higher the setting, the less if any moisture. humidity will be extracted from the air.
On most humidifiers the fan runs almost constantly while in operation. The idea is to continually move the air around and when the unit senses a rise in humidity, above what you have it set on, the compressor will turn ON to extract that humidity.
The 2nd thing that causes the problem is a dirty of clogged intake air filter. Which is easily solved by removing and cleaning the filter. Which should be done at least every 2 weeks, while the dehumidifier is in operation.
I said there were 2 reasons. Actually, there is a 3rd. Not enough clear air space all around the dehumidifier. A minimum of 12" should be maintained during operation.
Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.
Do these humidifiers have a filter that needs
Yes, they do. The filter is located behind the louvers on the front. To remove it for cleaning, grasp the Filter Handle on the right side of the unit, on the same level as the louvers and pull it out. Clean the filter with a vacuum cleaner or luke warm water and a mild detergent. Thoroughly dry the filter before reinserting it.
If you have misplaced your Owner's Manual, I have included a link to it, that you can download and print for future reference.

My dehumidifier does not work at all anymore
I had the same problem with mine. I had it less than 2 years. The compressor seemed to kick on, but no water collected in the pan. the compressor should be covered for 5 years, but unless you have an extended warranty, there will be a service charge.
My dehumidifier was fried during a thunderstorm and nothing worked afterward, and it wasn't running at the time. I just bouught a frigidaire (45 pint) and I love it! no noise!
The motor runs but no
mempandora, the humidity level that you set on the unit may be to high. In which case the unit will only maintain that level, rather than remove any moisture/humidity. Lower the setting to 35% or minimal, if your unit does not have an LED display. In addition, the air intake filter probably needs cleaning and the coolant coils need to be wiped down and cleaned. The latter is the only part that will require some partial dismantling of the dehumidifier's cabinet. Also, it is imperative, to maintain a minimum of 12" clear air space all around the unit. And finally, the ambient air temperature at floor level may be affecting the operation. If the temperature is between 40 & 60 degrees F, the unit struggles to sense humidity. This is particularly true in a basement. As, the air at the floor is colder than the air temperature.
I hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.
The dehumidifier is not collecting water in the
The lack of water in the bucket, may be a result of the humidity setting on the unit being to high. Try setting the level at 45% or lower. Also, be sure there's adequate air flow around the unit itself. It should remain a minimum of 12' from a wall or furniture. 24" is better.
If the above doesn't solve the problem, try this at home test. Place the unit in the bathroom, turn it ON and set the level as low as possible. Turn the shower ON hot enough to generate steam. Do not turn ON the bathroom's exhaust fan. As you exit the bathroom, close the door. Wait 15 to 20 minutes, before returning to the bathroom. When you do, turn the shower OFF and allow the unit to run for several more minutes. Then check the bucket for water. If there is any sign of water in it, it's working fine. It was probably a case of the humidity level being set to high the first time.
If there was no water in the bucket, the refrigerant gas in the cooling coils and the compressor may need recharging.
Hope this helped your to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.
No water in the bucket
Your compressor is probably not coming on or you have a refrigerant leak in the system. Either way its not worth the time and money to fix I reccomend replacement. If this helps please rate me and do a testimonial.
It will not run.It cuts on then cuts off. There is
Yes, you're right. There's probably enough humidity. But, the level that you have the dehumidifier set on is to high. Please understand, the percentage on the LCD screen is what the humidifier is the humidity that it will maintain, not what it will remove. If it's set on say, 65% or higher, it's not going to remove anything. That's why it turns ON and then OFF. It needs to be set lower than 50%. Probably more like 45%, then when it turns ON, it will continue to run until the humidity level reaches 45% or the unit shuts OFF, because the bucket is full.
I had a previous questioner recently, who after reading what I just told you, said, "Now, I've got it. It works opposite of a refrigerator?" Which is a perfect analogy.
Let me know if it works for you. Thanks.
In the last couple of days the air temp reading on
It may simply be a case of where the unit is sitting, as opposed to where the thermostat is, that you're getting the higher reading from. Is that thermostat subject to direct sunlight? Is it near a heat producing appliance (i.e a lamp, a heat duct or air return duct). Any of these things could account for the difference in temperature. As could restricted air flow around the unit.
Actually, I not sure that the temperature reading plays a big role in the operation of the dehumidifier. As the same LED read out, is also the timer read out.
Of course if you have further concerns about it, you can contact Haier Customer Support at 877-337-3639.
