Can not pick up channels

You might have to try another antenna. Buying an indoor antenna can be hit or miss so it might take a couple tries to get the right one. In the mean time go to your menu on the T.V. go to channel set up and program the channels using air and see if that helps.

What hell man tv does not turn on. Their is a

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

Remember, TVs CONTAIN HIGH VOLTAGE AND CAN KILL YOU! Do this at your own risk.

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found online. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I

Sorry, but it sounds like the DVD player is just gone. You can attempt to have someone repair it, but with the low cost of new DVD players, it probably isn't worth it.

Can i install a flat screen tv. in my garagein chicago,il

Hi,

A very good question! The acceptable temperatures are very similar for both technologies.

There are two issues to consider here;

1) Storage Range (TV Off Mode). This is generally accepted to be -4 to +120 degrees Fahrenheit before any damage is likely to occur to either technology.

2) Operating range (TV On). This is generally accepted to be 32 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The TV should not be operated if the environmental temperature is outside this range.

Obviously there is some slight variation between manufacturers on these ranges but these are broadly accepted norms.

Sony for example have this to say;

"The television can be placed in storage with environmental temperatures between -4 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit (F) and 20-90% Relative Humidity (RH). The recommended temperature for proper operation is between 41°F to 96°F. Proper operation outside of this temperature range cannot be guaranteed."

LCD screens are known to have a poor refresh rate in colder temperatures and the picture is likely to suffer in these conditions so it is worth bearing this in mind.

However there is evidence to suggest at the other end that operating Plasma screens above 80 degrees can shorten the life of the screen.

Its a bit of a trade off - however the main thing to consider here is how you can best control the environmental temperature to stay within these ranges.

If you are in a better position to keep the garage heated to a reasonable temperature in winter then LCD is the best option. If you are able to successfully keep it cool in Summer then Plasma will be better.

Hope this helps with your decision and thanks for using FixYa.

Green screen using HDMI input

Try using the RGB component input and see what happens. If it's normal, then you might have a software issue in the set. You'll get the same quality out of RGB as you would HDMI.

Programm bell expressvu 4100 remote control

I had the same problem. I used the code 660 and that works fine for power, volume, and stations for my Insignia with the bell remote. Hold tv button till all 4 lights light up and then press 660 # and everything (minus the menu option) should work. I also tried these insignia codes (which might work if this dont.) 659, 573, 570, 405, 245, 456.
