I have a whirlpool gas over that is not heating up

I have good news for you! You have a bake element that has gone out and it's a very simple repair. It will save you a ton of money if you replace this yourself.

The broiler works but the bake option doesn't

Check the bake ignitor (glow bar attached to the burner). If it does not glow at all, but the voltage is supplied to it - replace. If it does glow, but draws current less than 3A - replace.

I have no users' manual and would like the basic

The only thing I can offer is this: Most electronics cannot recover from the extreme 900 degree temp of self clean cycle. It is therefore recommended not to use the self clean on newer models. Why not get some oven cleaner and do it the old fashioned way? If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/dan_73bbd84fe1d95b61

Temp control

No adjustment. Could be bad temp control unit or bad oven temp sensor. You would have to purchase a repair manual and test the current flow to and from the circuit. And then testing the oven temp unit with multi-tester.

Make sure there's power getting to your range, oven or cooktop. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in.

Won't start

I wired the oven to a different socket temporarily to check it and all the display lights came on immediately so I assume every thing else will work on a permanent supply. It is in fact a supply problem at the oven supply point and the electrician who rewired the house is coming tomorrow to solve the problem hopefully.

When I heat up the oven i get a strong smell of gas and it fills

Ok, your mixture is to rich at this time. you will need to access the gas pressure regulator and adjust the air to fuel mixture. add a bit more air and back off of the fuel a bit. this will correct this issue.

depending on the model, this may or may not be an option so, if you cant access the regulator and the burner assembly is not accessible as well, i recommend calling the local gas utility service tech to preform this adjustment. This rich mixture is very dangerous for you and your family and i suggest that this be corrected asap for you safety.

Please rate and god bless:)

Top burners works however the oven won't come on.

most likely you need the ignitor/glow bar. to test you need a clamp on amp meter to see if you have 3.0 to 3.3 amps, if it glows and doesn't light the ignitor is too weak to open the valve. get a new ignitor from a parts dealer and replace, make sure to put a drop of dish soap on the screws holding the ignitor to the burner, the soap will lubricate the threads on the screw so it doesn't strip out. hope this helps.
