Tomtom ONE 3rd Edition GPS - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

Hi, I was having trouble too and have found the manual for the 3rd edition online

I'm following these instructions:

Installing TomTom HOME
Install TomTom HOME on your computer in the following way.

• Connect your computer to the Internet and then connect your TomTom ONE to your computer using the USB cable.
• A pop-up window appears. Select Run TomTom HOME. Click OK and follow the on-screen instructions.
• If the pop-up window does not appear, browse to the TomTom device on your computer and run the file named Install TomTom HOME.
• TomTom HOME is also available for download from the TomTom website.
• For more information visit www.tomtom.com/home
• Once installed, TomTom HOME will start automatically whenever you connectyour TomTom to your computer.

On some devices you have a guarantee for the latest maps (since its first use). On some other devices with model names ending in T, M, or TM you have free traffic (T) for life, Maps (M) , or free Traffic and maps (MT) for the useful life of the device. Outside of theses cases there are no free map downloads. Visit the TomTom site to use and free map update that your device qualifies for.

did you already try a reset tomtom.com, support, search for reset, sel reset(soft) sel device, do as told. good luck

i'm sorry BUT I HAVE TO TELL U THAT THERE AREN'T ANY FREE tomtom MAPS and updates unless u buy tomtom with already installed map

but there is a way to crack tomtom map 
but if you're not good with pc's you can't do it
i have done it and i have to tell that is pretty complicated and is better to buy maps then try to do it the bad way

If reset not worked, then must open up, take out battery and then reset, then you must hook up USB and upgrade software, also maybe need to get new battery too, often battery seems OK, but not,.

You may be able to go the TomTom website and download the last update programming. If the problem is software this should fix it.

That seems to be a problem with the Tomtom One, usually when the battery is low

Yes, sometimes it takes a long time to find a satellite, works best when it is fully charged, then it finds the Sats quickly

try a soft reset press and hold the reset switch DOWN for 30 seconds, release and power up. Go outside and wait about 4 minutes, that usually does the trick on a ONEv3

back up the contents of tomtom to a folder on your desktop then reformat the unit to FAT32 4096 and copy all the data back over

You may not likely find/get the activation code(s) for your map(s) since your map versions are quite old ... current map versions are 920... Your other option is to purchase a current map from TomTom. You can go to tomtom.com (and if you haven't registered your GPS device, register the GPS device (on tomtom.com) against your name, etc.,) and purchase a map (of your choice). With this purchase, you will download the map (software and data), and an activation code to validate the map. After that you should be able to use the GPS device (for the purchased maps).
