connect your tom tom to the computer and go to tom tom home and look on the site,there you can get information on how to correct the problem ,i know they have map corrections on there.hope this helps.

the antenna is the cause if the gps is not having signal or reception.

Check the antenna is broken or well fixed. If not, you will have to replace the antenna.

If you have just purchased this unit, it must have a Manual with it, it should explain everything you need to know in there sir.

Did you download tomtom home software for free? if not go too tomtom.com, download the program and then connect your device too your computer and it should ask if you want to connect click yes and then the update screen should appear and search automatically.

It is because of you just upgrade your device.
Not to worry. If you can't switch on/off, try harder.
Press on/off button for on/off purpose until on/off.
After that, the device works properly.

Your sd card doesn't match with your device. It can cause device memory demage later. Change or don't use recent sd.

Press On/Off button until Off.
Leave it about 5 minutes and On again.

The Tomtom map updates are available by subscription from www.Tomtom.com Under most conditions it is not really necessary to update every year. The updates run about $40 per year. The best option on most of the small GPS units under $100 is to use it for 2-3 years and then just sell the older one and buy a new unit. The reason I say this is because the map updates only update the maps not the features or the software. The newer units will have new features and options for the same price as you would get with buying a map update your the older unit.

I am trying to REgister and receive but I dont know where to go.

If you where having difficulty with the on/off button, it sounds like the microswitch under the plastic. Unless you can do micro soldering you can not fix this yourself. You should get a quote from tomtom.

It could be that the sound is kept at a very low level. Tap on the bottom left hand corner. A volume slider will pop up. If the volume is at a very low level increase it by sliding your finger over the slide towards the right hand side. Hope this will solve your problem.

The Tom Tom will say searching for a satellite ... under several scenarios.

Place it in the dash of your vehicle in full unobstructed view of the sky. If there are many cell towers, power stations, TV or Radio antenna in the near vicinity, it is possible you may need to drive, or move it around a short distance until it can 'lock on' to a satellite. This can happen in very clustered city environments.

Also, when is the last time, if ever, (no worries I'm just looking for causes) you updated your Tom Tom? In my opinion, the Tom Tom requires more frequent updates (depending upon your performance results) which means going to your local store (discount, electronic, etc) and purchasing a card that is activated at the register, and then at home, typically through a USB cable, you will hook your Tom Tom up to a PC or laptop and at the Tom Tom site (or whenever the card you purchased directs you to) you will type in your code from the card and it will upgrade your Tom Tom to the latest data available, and potentially resolving the 'satellite not found issue.'

few reasons this occurs

1) Battery is not fully charged.
2) not in a clear view of the sky
3) damaged SIIRF chip due to being plugged to car power when starting engine.
4) you have the wrong PORT and BAUD set for the unit
