In my (limited) experience I find most universal remote controls have an instruction manual that can be downloaded from the parent website where you will usually also find a helpline number. I hear the helplines are quite helpful.

It is very likely that the latch is not centerd properly in alignment with the catch. The solenoid that drives the locking mechanism is not very strong and requires perfect alignment. You may want to try loosening the holdown bolts a little and closing and opening the hatch a few times then tighten the bolts down again. Thank you, Dana
