How do I program my universal remote with a memory key?

Direct Code Entry
  1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
  4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.

Remote not working??"Safe Mode"" What

Hello,

Safe Mode is a diagnostic tool in the Remote used for troubleshooting purposes. If the words "Safe Mode" or "Safe Mode Requested" appear on the remote, complete the following steps:

1. Ensure the Remote is in "Safe Mode Requested" by taking out the batteries, and disconnecting the remote from the USB cable.
2. Hold down the Off button and plug the remote into the USB.
3. Continue holding down the Off button for another 10 seconds. The remote should then display the words "Safe Mode Requested".
4. With the unit in "Safe Mode Requested", re-install the firmware by clicking Support on your home page.
5. Click Firmware in the Downloads section and follow the online instructions to upgrade the firmware.
6. Once the firmware upgrade is complete, click Update My Remote.
7. Insert new batteries into the remote.

NOTE: Ensure the new batteries are all the same brand.

If the above doesn't help, please let me know for further directions.

Good luck.

I tried downloading the software

What you need to do is make sure the batteries are in correctly, go to http://myharmony.com in Firefox or IE8, and click the button that says "set up my remote" in the middle/left area of the screen. The website will show ask you to log in and then show a load screen. This is when it will ask you to plug in the remote. The whole process from here on out is done from your browser. Its actually quite easy, I just set up one of these remotes yesterday and it works great.

I have speakers and a logitec headset, they work

It depends upon your sound card capabilities. If you open the Volume/Audio Mixer via the notifications area, you should be able to call up the settings. Some (not all) cards allow for the simultaneous enabling of both headphones and speakers via a setting in that area. The predominant default, however, is not. The assumption of course is that if you're using the headphones you don't want the speakers.

Hope that's helpful.
