This must be done on the Amazon.com website, not on your computer. You must login into your Amazon.com account and close it from there, or call Amazon to do it.
This happens when your computer can't find and load the operating system. You need to start from another CD or hard drive so you can run the Disk Utility program. Try using your original operating system CD that can with your mac and press the either the control key and the C key or just the C key to force the computer to boot (start up) from the CD rather than the internal hard drive. Then ignore the messages on the CD to install the operating system and find the Disk Utility program in the pull down menus at the top. Find and select your internal hard drive for it to repair. If you cannot find it, likely your hard drive has crashed. You will need to replace it and install a new operating system on it.
In that case, your data may be lost on your old hard drive.
If you have a external hard drive, depending on the interface, plug it in to the appropriate connector (firewire for example) and boot from the hard drive, then run the Disk Utility program from there.
If you have no operating system CD, try to borrow or buy a copy, it must be of a version that will work on your model of computer.

Adobe will automatically notify you of updates when they become available.
USB ports will go bad sometimes. The devices require power and sometimes the power fails in them. If you have a power supply for the external device try connecting it to it and then using the usb.
O/W you probably have internal failure.
when computer is plugged in and powered off, hold down apple and option keys on left side of space bar and p and r keys. Keep them all pressed and hold them and push the power button, keep them down and listen for the boot chime to happen three times.
THis is resetting the pram or nvram.
Also try disk selct by holding down the option key or maybe try safe mode by holding down the s key.
