My washer is not spinning clothes dry and the end of the cycle. Everything is soaking wet, what can I do?

is the pump free to spin? when the pump operates(when it spins) is the water getting out? something like a sock may have got past the drum into pipe that joins to pump allowing only some water to escape

Clothes were still very wet when cycle completed

When the clothes are wet at the end of a cycle, check these:

Motor coupler
Spin cycle
Siphoning
Water-inlet valve
Motor coupler To test the motor coupler, re-start the washer in its spin cycle. Let the machine run for a minute, and then open the lid and notice whether the tub is spinning:

  • If it's spinning when you lift the lid, the coupler is fine.

  • If it isn't spinning--and your machine was produced by Whirlpool®--you may have a broken coupler. Many Whirlpool-made washers use a small, relatively inexpensive device called a motor coupling. This plastic-and-rubber component is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. When that happens, you need to replace it completely.

Spin cycle If the washer doesn't reach its proper spin speed, the clothes may be too wet at the end of a cycle. Check to be sure the load is properly balanced and run a spin cycle again. If the clothes are still wet, you may have a worn or loose belt (Maytag®), a worn clutch (GE®/Hotpoint®), or a worn motor pulley or tub bearing. Replace the applicable component.

Alternatively, there could be clothes caught between the inner and outer tubs. Read the "It spins but won't pump" section of the "It won't drain" section. Also, there could be other things that cause friction on the drive train. Seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

Siphoning If the water that pumps from the machine goes right back into the machine after the spin cycle, it may be because your washer is siphoning the water from a laundry tub with a slow drain, back into the washer. Try to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is there something stuck in the drain?) Also, be sure the drain hose doesn't reach more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub. If it does, cut off the excess.

Water-inlet valve Water-inlet valves eventually fail. One problem that may develop with a water-inlet valve is that it can no longer completely shut off when the electricity is turned off to it. Then, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub--you may notice that your washer has water in it when you haven't used it for a few days. To fix this, replace the valve.

E17 error code

Got an E17 Error today on a Bosch 6450 Series washer (the user manual says Bosch Vision 300/500/DLX series). Here's what I did to fix the problem.- Tilted the unit back, propped up the front with some 2x4 (lying flat; that's all the room I had).- removed 3 screws (Torx 20 I think) under the front lip. Then slid the cover (below the washer opening) down. This revealed the pump to empty the washer, a manual door lock opening pull rod, and a drain line (?)- Looking through some holes in the front panel I saw some water on the bottom of the washer... but I spent a lot of time with the pump cleaning it out first (some zipper pull got in there and made a lot of plastic shavings). - Ultimately I got my hand the bottom of the washer and soaked up the water that I could find. That's when I realized- there is a micro switch mechanism at the bottom near the front. This must be the "AquaStop". The mechanism contains a bit of styrofoam that floats up on any little amount of water that collects under it and triggers the microswitch. So, I removed that unit, wiped the water up... put it all back together. No more E:17 error.Still don't know how the water got there in the first place though.

Drum seems to be out

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

It is necessary to ensure absolutely that the machine has all 4 feet very firmly on the floor, and I mean firmly ;-0)
Doesn't matter whether it is empty or not but switch it off then-
very firmly push one front corner diagonally into the centre of the machine and see if the machine moves or rocks AT ALL, even the slightest. If it does you will need the open-ended spanner which came with the (new) machine........which of course went missing a long time ago?!! An adjustable spanner will suffice.
Adjust the foot under that corner downwards until it is very firmly- almost pushing- against the floor but not so far that the corner lifts up!
If this corner did not rock do the same to the other.
Once you cannot rock the machine the slightest little bit, screw the locking nuts up tight to the underside of the machine so that they will not move. Ideally the rear feet should also be locked.

(If this has not cured the problem it is possible that the internal suspension is malfunctioning.)

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

What does e:17 code mean?

check your owners manual to be sure, but I think this code means that your aqua stop hose detected a leak and you have to replace the hose.

My washer is flashing E:13; locked with wet clothes inside

Hello and welcome to fixya.

The E13 error code on the WFMC series Bosch washer`s refer to a drainage problem, as you may or may not already know. ( or in Bosch terms "pump time exceeded" )

What you may have is either a clogged pump, improper detergent being used, ( must use "HE"/lo-sudsing detergent ) hence suds not allowing a proper drain cycle, or wires loose at the pump...the later being the least likely.

You haven`t mentioned if you`ve checked the pump...just hoses as you did mention.

Anyway, here`s the most likely way to remedy a E13 code.

**Unplug the washer from the wall or turn off the breaker before attempting any repairs**

  1. Get some towels and if possible a wet/dry vac. If the machine drained, it won't be too bad. If your machine is stuck full of water, I can't say, hopefully you won't get wet. ( maybe you`re lucky enough to be close to a floor drain )
  2. Locate the round door on the front of the machine (about 6" in diameter, lower right corner)
  3. Find a drill bit or small screwdriver that fits in the hole in the round door.
  4. Insert the bit into the hole in the door. It will push in a tab, it doesn't take much force. Rotate the hole (clockwise) to 6'oclock and it should come free. (the edges are very sharp so be careful or wear chain-mail gloves).
  5. Once the door is out of the way you'll be greeted by a 3-4" plastic cap with wings so you can unscrew it by hand. ( you should also see a red ring with a string attached, if you pull this the door should unlatch, but getting the water out first is usually a good plan ) There is a small collector lip at the bottom of the cap, that is where you can hold the wet/dry vac to catch the water. Unscrew slowly so you don't get flooded, until it is unscrewed all the way out.
  6. Now pull out the trap and visually inspect the inside of the pump as well as the filter/trap. Hopefully you'll find the item/debris that initiated the error code.
  7. After removing any debris or obstruction`s re-install the button trap/lint filter and plug the washer in to power or reset the breaker and give it a test.
  8. Run a load and watch for leaks. Leave the pump access door off until you are sure you screwed the cap in tight and there are no leaks.
Ultimately you may have a faulty drain pump, but I would certainly start by performing the things I listed first.

Let me know if you require further assistance and if not and this solves your problem, please rate the solution I provided accordingly.

Thank you for coming to "fixya" and good luck.

My Bosch front loading washer is flashing E:13 and won't open

Hi, i had an E-13 error code on my Bosch 500 series washer. The drain pump impeller was plugged. Access the drain impeller at the bottom front right corner. Just put a pen in the hole and turn the cover. Then you need to manually drain the washer. I used a shop vac by just turning the cap until it started to leak and vacuum the water as it comes out, this takes quite a while. When you get it drained you can take the cap completely off. When I did I found a wipe in the impeller. I took it out and put it back together and the washer worked just as before.

Take care

Door won't unlock and cycle won't start

The interlock has failed most likely. Its a small electronic part that the door catch connects into when you close the machine door. Its tricky to release but can be done. Unplug the machine, remove the lid, put your hand down the front of the machine to where the door catch goes in and fiddle until it releases. It takes a bit of luck when you dont know what your looking for.

Rid of Mildew Smell?

Make sure there are no leaks from the machine. look behind it and check the water inlet hose and connectors for any damage. Also look under the machine for any water as this may indicate a leak from the internal hose and pipe work and / or water pump. Also check that the outlet hose is completely clear of debris and soap scum build up and check that the filter is clean.

To keep the machine clean of waste build up and to keep any bad odours away
1. Remove all items from the washer.
2. Open the dispenser drawer and 2/3 cup (160 mL) of liquid chlorine bleach to the bleach compartment. DO NOT use more than 2/3 cup (160mL) of bleach per cycle as this will lead to product damage.
3. Close the washer door and dispenser drawer.
4. Select the Clean Washer cycle or a full wash cotton 104 F wash (40 C). DO NOT use any higher temperature as this will cause unnecessary fumes
5. Press Start and allow cycle to complete.
6. After the cycle is complete, leave the door open slightly to allow ventilation and drying of the washer interior.
7. Repeat the cleaning procedure monthly

Nexxt 500 washer - fabric softener tray fills with

There is suppose to be an outlet that opens up at the same time water enters ( to flush out softener). That outlet is either stuck shut or the wire fell off (I believe this is a little solenoid plunger with a wire attached). It is common for wires to come loose from the vibrations of the machine

Fill up the tub but never spin and then drain, suggestion please?

The same issue occured with me. I spoke with Customer Service as the unit was still warrantied at that time. A Technician come out; his experience was common with this Bosch unit as he had learned over the months that Bosch has sub-contractors that supplied faulty and/ or sub-par circuit boards and components. This particular board was replaced and the incident did not recur.
