SOLUTION:
take the roller off and flip the thin belt inside out. This fixed my vac and works great again.

go to guarantee vacuum and buy a new one and have them put it in

replace it can be gotten at guarantee vacuum and sewing center and will only cost about 25 to 30 dollars

The filter is located under a cover directly under the bag in the bag compartment. That's the only one I can think of.

This is telling you that there is poor air flow or a blockage somewhere. To simply check for proper suction, remove the accessory hose to see if there is normal suction, if not then your problem is further in the unit. 5 minutes everytime? If so, raise brush all the way, and vacuum next to nothing. in fact, tilt vac up so the brush touches nothing. wait 5 minutes. If it doesn't shut off, your brush is set too high. if it does, the motor is over heating. make sure bag is empty, no debris in brush, filters clean and make sure you're not plugged into an outlet that a breaker on the outlet can pop too.
