I am slightly familiar with older sewing machines but not modern machines. It is a long time since I've seen my machines. If your presser foot has a wide slot it is clearly possible to use it for zig-zag sewing. If the machine is capable of zig-zag or swing needle sewing, it is sometimes possible to swing the needle and fix it to the left or right and fix it in that position. I suggest you check in your machine instruction manual. Perhaps the presser foot you are using is unsuitable for your machine...

If the needle gets stuck with no thread, The needle is hitting something. Could be needle not up all the way or something needs adjusting. If it gets stuck with thread. It is probably an upper thread tension or threading issue.

If your machine is industrial you will need to look at the clutch linings

Is this a new machine or have you had the problem before

u need a silicon based nylon thread and a larger needle. needle may be getting hot too depending on thickness of work. spray some silicon on upper thread.

it's probably time for the machine to be serviced. to see if any internal part has a problem.

I would call Capron Carter back and ask for this info.

You could try to pull it down with a magnet or see iff it will stick to some blu tack and pull it out with that.

check feeder underneath is not clogged up with fluff etc

Your needle probably bent and got jammed. clip threads top and bottom of the fabric and remove... then get in the bobbin area and look for issues.

Could you explain the problem a bit more. Sounds like a tension problem but it could also be a poor needle/thread match.
