The scanner itself does not make copies. You scan and then reprint as many times as you need with a printer. Make sure your image settings are suitable for your printer eg save as a jpeg or pdf file and then reprint that. If you are trying to make your system do a function it is not capable of, you need to change the way you are doing it.

Canon scanners are slow to begin with. A good usb cord plugged directly into a port, not a hub can help. Discontinue as many background programs and operations as possible. The shorter the cord, the better. You can't speed up the scanner, only the data transfer between the scanner and your PC. They are good scanners, just slow. Some printers are like that as well.

I have many years reapairing Canon scanners and I think I can help you out.

This is a very common problem with Canon scanners even the larger commercial scanners. To correct the problem you just need to reboot your computer. What happens is the memory gets full of bits and pieces of images and needs a reboot to clean out the memory. Also another thing that can cause this problem is if your computer goes into sleep mode, you will then loose the connection to you scanner also. My suggestion is when your done scanning for the day shut your computer down if you cant then at the beginning of the day just do a reboot (restart) and you will be good for the day.

Remove the glass using a knife to remove the the gray plastic on both sides and in front. They are held in place with double-sided tape. Clean the inside of the glass with rubbing alcohol. Also clean the insides of the center track and the silicon bumps on both sides of the scanning wand. put a tiny amount of spray silicon on a Q-tip and run it up and down the insides of that center track. Use the Q-tip again to wipe the silicon bumps. put it back together and there you go!

You are right next you must try changing the cord.

I have many years experience repairing Canon scanners so here is my suggestion for you.

Well an easy way to do this is to scan them and save them as a word document if you can, or save them as a .txt (text) document some where on your computer. Then if you have the full version of Adobe go to where you saved them and convert them to a .pdf. But I think only the full version of Adobe will do this for you. There are free .pdf convertors if you google for them.

You have to go into Control Panel, Device Manager, locate the scanner in there, right click Properties. From here just select the Driver tab, and there you've got the driver version and date.
You can get the latest driver from the Canon website.

had the same problem. take off the two framing pieces of plastic that run along the edges of the glass (they are stuck on with glue so use a knife). prize the glass out of the unit and check that you can move the scanning moving part up and down. remove any bits of plastic. test the moving parts by replacing the glass and scanning. mine seems to work fine now, fingers crossed. x
