In my experience if you refill the toner cartridge with the toners available in the market,though they are labelled"for Brother 2140" you get vertical dark patches on the paper. Once in a while you get good quality print too. Replacement with correct toner cartridge seems to the solution.

This error occurs when your printer is dealing with a particually complicated print job and cannot process it all. Try to reduce the complexity of your document or cut the print resolution. It may be worth trying to print the document in several parts if at all possible.I hope this helps.

A power surge most likely damaged your printer. Printers are a cheap item and getting it repaired would most likely not a cost effective solution.To prevent power surge problem you need to connect all your computer equipment and printer to a power board with a built-in surge protection then plug this power board into the mains outlet.

This is almost certainly an issue with the toner cartridge. I would recommend running off 30 or so prints and contacting whoever the cartridge was purchased from if the toner doesn't pull through.

Re boot the computer with ,( wired or wireless printer?), the printer cable in the USB port in the laptop/desktop, the windows version you have will ID the device and try to load a driver, or Go to printer in the start menu and ADD a PRINTER the software will search for the attached printer. OR use the software that came with the printer, load into the Dell and follow the instructions.

I have used a HL-2140 for a long time without any problem printing multiple copies.
What kind of problem are you having printing multiple copies?

Try switching the printer off & then switching it back on. If it doesnt work, re-install the printer drivers.

That model is printer only, it does not have copy capability.

Moving the GREEN TAB moves the toner-ink inside the cartridge, to more uniformly spread it.

Since the toner-cartridge is nearly empty, you probably need to replace the toner-cartridge with a "full" one.

Im not familiar with Brother printers, but i do work on others, usually the error lights point to a particular section of the printer, ie. paper feed, or ink, or power. If you have an owners manual check to see what your error light means...if it is ink, you may have replace the wrong one, or put an empty on in its place. sometimes paper can get stuck in places you can see very well. always check to see if you have the entire sheet of paper when removing a jam. ensure the paper is neat in the paper tray. it could be trying to feed and if the paper is in the wrong position it wont be able to grab it. Powering off wait a minute and power back on solves many solutions as well.

1. Open the front like you are going to pull out the toner.
2. With the door open push and hold the button the on the left side that the blue button normally pushes when closed.
3. Release after 30 seconds. this will reset the drum.
