Make sure you do not have it in Video Mode or Cable mode. Check the menu and see if you have the brightness/contrast/color and see where they are. if they are below 0 then you will have black screen. also, your state might have changed to digital programming so you will only get Canada stations only.

Unfortunately, you are probably dealing with a copy protection issue. The digital handshake can't be returned by your KLV3913. You get the same issue if you connect a HDMI source (Blu-ray player) to a VGA monitor. I wish that I had better news for you. Cindy Wells

Jim, First thing I would do is try a different DVD to see if the problem persists. Otherwise, this device is equipped with integrated speakers, meaning it is unlikely that you will be able to replace them. I I had a similar problem. What worked for me, was resetting the player. By pressing the picture button on the player itself three or four times I got to the reset option. Press play when it says press ok to reset. My remote automatically started working at that point. Hope this works for you
