I got a new telephone and now it works

Well If the function Announcement only is activated the caller cannot leave a message.
ANN is your announcement message to a caller in which contact information can be supplied but no incoming message (ICM) will be recorded. and in your case, "You can't leave a message" is your saved announcement. turn that feature off to solve the problem. please refer to manual for steps.

Not being able to send out text messages actually relies on the Message center settings associated to your network provider. You need not to send it somewhere. You can just call up your network provider's customer care hotline and ask for the message center no. and set it up on your Message settings.

Press message button on back of headset and then press the number 7 on keypad and it should go back on to turn off press the 9 key.

if the battery is no longer charging and you can't seem to find one try the battery patrol. it is a store that handles all kinds even the rare hard to find. this should do the trick..

Thankyou for your prompt reply, however I did not realise you came from U.S.A ( I am in Australia) I contacted my daughter and she got me all the information I required from Google.

She told me it wa quite simple really, Go to google, and ask for DORO instructions manuals, then follow the prompts and when you get what you require, print out copy,it contained 35 pages and was totally, FREE.

Good question but no 'make model (what it is). Base units have an antenna, make sure it is extended. Make sure the batteries in the satellite hand sets are good as they send out the signal to the base unit to be 'in range'. Not sure about the PIN request, refer to the manual. They are all online. Google make model manual ..

Because when the site was started June 2005, it was staffed by IT kids adding categories on the fly as questions were being added. You can't expect youngsters to know basic English Language.
