Frigidaire 20.6 cu. ft. / 583 liter Upright Freezer FFU2124D - Page 6 Questions & Answers
How can you tell by looking if a freezer is a
If you have freon lines running through your shelving, this is a manual defrost. If you have an evaporator fan motor blowing air in your freezer compartment this is a self defrosting model. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists
Freezer makes gurgling sound, only cools a little
It sounds to me like the system is low on refrigerant or the metering device is restricted, the gurgling sound is the refrigerant going thru the evaporator coil. I see this is an upright freezer, so when the unit is running do all the coil tubing(in the shelves) get cold on the top ones and the bottom ones are warmer? This will tell you if the evaporator is starving of refrigerant. Either way you need a service tech to check it out. If the system is low on refrigerant then it leaked out somewhere and will need to be repaired.
My Frigidaire upright freezer is only 4 years old & isn't working
freezers have safety devices to protect themselves. The compressor has an internal overload to keep it from overheating. some have external reset buttons and some do not. either way the cause must be corrected. if the freezer was low on refrigerant you would see signs of oil near the coils, tubing, or compressor. If there is no leak, it overheats when there is airflow restrictions(dirty coils) or a fan has stopped working. only a few screws keep you from seeing all there is to see. If it is clean and the fan is running, then the compressor may just be the culprit
Freezer is 4 months old, when we closed the door
it doesn't mean the fridge door gasket isn't sealing properly, if just means it has worked itself into a permanent seal. if you aren't having any problems with the fridge, don't worry about it.
Freezer not freezing
Is it running? You might need to put your ear up to machine, to hear it, They run very quitely.
If not running, could be a bad cold control (thermostat), or defective relay and overload mounted on the compressor body.
If the compressor is running but no cooling, then you're in serious trouble unless,
The unit is 5 years old or newer. In that case you have factory warranty on what is called the sealed system. Contact the dealer in that case for service. Service should be free.
No power while plugged
It probably has a circuit breaker located on the bottom of the fridge, behind the front filter. Also try looking inside the refridgerator side at the top. It may be red colored to indicate it is safety-related. Just push it in - but don't be surprised if it trips again.
WARNING: RESET ONLY ONCE TO AVOID A FIRE OR ELECTROCUTION SITUATION.
You may have an internal problem, in which case the freezer's circuit breaker is your best friend!
Note that the self-defrosting freezers have a timer that shuts them off periodically so they can defrost. Sometimes the timer does the defrosting in the middle of the day, giving the appearance of a failure. This could be your problem.
I replaced some of the suction line due to large
That means you have a restriction somewhere. Did you install a filter dryer?
The restriction could be at the metering device.
With those small refridgerant systems there is very little tolerance for any sort of restriction. I tiny bit of dirt that may have gotten on the tip of your hose when you charged it or a small peice of rubber from a deteriorating seal in the tip of the hose fitting, anything like that could have caused the restriction.
Recover the refridgerant, dissasemble/clean the metering device, install a filter dryer, flush it with nitrigen, then pull another vacuum and recharge it, you should be fine.
Freezer blowing cool air, but
Hello there:
first make sure that the back of the unit is clear of any dirt or obstructions
also make sure that the food is not stacked up so high that the air cannot circulate also you may want to check the temperature setting if the unit does not respond to a lower setting your refrigerant level may be low or than you will have to have the temperature controle thermistor serviced or replaced
Freezer LFFH21F7HW upright is making to much noise
Hi, What kind of noise is it making?
Also have you tried moving the fridge slightly incase its up against a unit or sitting uneven as this can cause a noise if after this you still have the noise their isnt much you can do about it as its not worth replacing parts that are working fine.
I would move the fridge slightly or adjust the legs so its sitting even as this can cause a vibrating noise.
Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
I have a Frigidaire ffu1466gw0 Upright Freezer.
if the compressor is running, the fan beside the compressor and the fan in the freezer should both be running, dirty coils can cause a problem. frost buildup on back of freezer wall is indicative of defrost problem.
I have a fridgidaire freezer that is just cooling not freezing?
some freezers will not freeze in the freezer department if you are low on freon. the motor cannot produce enough freon to keep your freezer frozen when it is to low, however, you might have the temperature up to high where it has locked up the motor and is sending out all that water underneath. i would check your pan under your refrigerator to see if it needs to be dumped and then replace it back.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer
are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of
cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.
check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In
most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board.
If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

IF A FREEZER IS OUT OF FREON DOES IT RUN ALL THE
Make sure all the coils, both condenser and evaporator (defrost) are clean. Make sure the outside condenser coil has good air circulation and not insulated by having things blocking it.
A freezer will not be able to work to its greatest capacity if the refrigerant is low, but this is a hermetically sealed system and very unlikely has leaked refrigerant, though still possible. Anything that needs a recharge needs the leak fixed first.
