Your lamp is nearing the end of it's life. Contact Dell about a replacement lamp.

Do you have any fault lights lit or blinking? LAMP or TEMP?

LAMP light is solid orange - If the Lamp light is solid orange, replace the lamp.

TEMP light is solid orange - The projector has overheated. The display automatically shuts down. Turn the display on again after the projector cools down.

TEMP light is blinking orange - A projector fan has failed and the projector automatically shuts down

Sounds like you have a fauly lamp or possibly a bad fan - it depends on what fault lights are lit.

If the lamp is going out and you don't see any fault lights lit then you probably have a control board failure.

That will be nothing to do with the lamp. It has a colour decoder fault.

Basically the first thing for you to check will be the color settings. Try to adjust the color settings as the color may have been adjusted to the lowest.
Also try using an alternative cable to connect the projector often times these cables cause untold problems and make you spend lots of money for problems which do not exist.
Finally if your unit has NTSC/PAL compatibility switch check it.

Clean the filters. Make sure that the vents are not blocked. fan are working? Make sure the lamp door is secured, Projector manufacturers will make the projector inoperable if the door isn't secured tightly. Reset the lamp timer. email me at [email protected] if you need a manual.

It need color wheel and sensor to be clean

Try pressing the Fn + F8 keys on the laptop, once the projector is connected and powered on.

1. The unit will not come on
2. The fan inside will constantly be running
3. You would get a blinking light.

9 times out of ten its the lamp or the balast inside.

be sure that you have your computer set up to have dual moniters, just google how to set up dual moniters for vista or Xp, or whatever OS you have.

Remove power to it. Reinstall the software. Then plug it back in.

They aren't worth fixing. You can find comparable to dell's for half of the price. They are everywhere. Just make certain it is for dell 1700.

Not sure if this will help, but I resolved mine in the end by opening the toner compartment and removing all of them then popping them back in. I also 'scrubbed' some sensors via a blue pullout bar in the toner area.When I started up the printer, I then held down the Red X button until it said 'ready to print'.
