check the fans , check the cover of the lamp, there is a siwtch under the cover of the lamp make sure the switch is on the right place

has the projector been cleaned? You can blow it out with air but don't spin the fans too fast or they will break. If it has a filter has it been cleaned? Don't use canned air on it when it is on though.

Hi, Here i have added the link to the manual of Your projector. Downlaod the manual and reffer page no 55 to 58 Which discribe how to repalace the air filter. You can clean the air filter and refix the same. If you need to replace the air filter with a new one the you have to contact sony authorised servicing centre for new one. Disconnect AC power cord, then confirm the I/O (on/standby) lamp is turned off. Turn the power on again after re-connecting it. If the indicators still light up, the electrical system has a problem.

Plece the projector upside down on a towel or cushion to protect it from damage. Make sure it is disconnected from mains power.
The air filter panel is on the bottom of the projector, at the front and should be easy to unclip. It's a long panel.
Make sure that dust does not fall into the projector. Do not touch the fans inside.

Wipe off the air intakes with soft, dry cloth (3 slots, also on the bottom of the projector, and one additional one on the side).

Replace the air filter.

That should be you.

Turn on the projector
press MENU (as show in picture step by step)
use down arrow key and select SETUP
press ENTER
use down arrow key to select LAMP SETTING
press ENTER
menu screen below will be appeared.
ON SCREEN display

Has the projection lamp been replaced?
YES NO
Select YES with left arrow key (yes is preselected)
press ENTER
ON SCREEN display
lamp replacement process is now complete
press ENTER
now exit the MENU with menu key and check the lamp timer

Lamp cover is located at bottom of projector, loosen its screw and take off lamp cover. Process is also written in user manual page-56 with exploded views. Click Sony Support link to download user manual copy, check page-56 to have better idea.

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers who can supply spares, as required.

Just Google the manufacturer's name and follow the links. Make certain you are directed to the manufacturer's web site as some search engines direct you to other sites and they charge for the information that is normally free of charge.

If the seet is not powering up then the noise can be the fan or the power supply . If the lamp is not working then it can be a possible fault of the lamp or the power supply straining due to a load or shorted lamp and not starting up

i have color bands running through the picture

The unit has detected a video signal but can not decode it. It is likely that either the sending signal resolution is too high or too low. Try changing the video resolution to a different level and try again. If no signal appears to work, then the input card is defective.
