Same problem with the sound on board...

Give me the following info. and I will tell you what is the problem. I don't normally do this, but I think you suffered enough. (1) Manufacturer's or Computer's Name; (2) Model Name and Number; (3) the ID for *********** board; (4) I hate to do this to you, but I need it for our electronic troubleshooting. I have to ask what you already have written, because I can't get the idea of the original failure, during the failure and after the failure. Please remember that once you agree to whatever deal between you and I, the whole thing will have to be approved by the management of my employer. CONSTANTIN <[email protected]>

Dead front dash elctrical power outlet in Toy. Not a fuse problem

Do you have any idea of how many wires go to the Mother Board? Without a manual, I would not touch the thing at all. Please note that MB's are very temperamental and touchy animals. One tenth of a volt rise can cause so much heat capable of burning the CPU to ashes. Now I have your ASUS informaction, but a computer is not just a Mother Board. For this we will need from you the Name of the Computer, the Model number, the confirmation of the ASUS numbers. Usually they are imprinted around the white PCI sockets, if not then they are found around the RAM memory. We can obtain a manual from ASUS, unless you have one and can lend it to us. A description of what happened and the wires were removed, give us all detail, please. We will make a model of the computer and duplicate what happened. Then we will give you facts and not guesses. Once we have all this we will start to work immediately. We thank you very much for considering our service...

Don,t have sound and do not detect the sound at

Open windows control panel. Open add-remove programs. Uninstall any sound driver software. (Reboot the system when finished). Download RegCure, its free (This will clean your windows registry). Click on the link below;
http://www.pctuneuptips.com/recommends/clean/?gclid=CL2RiIrTmpICFSFMGgodODIPzg (Re-start when finished).
Check your bios. Once your in the bios,
go to the Advanced menu. Open, Onboard Devices Configuration.
Check your settings against the manual. See page 2-24. Save & exit the bios. Boot your system.
Open windows device manager. Look for a yellow pair shaped icon with an ! point or an ? in it or an unknown PCI device. If you see any, you'll need to install the driver software from here.
Right click once on the device, (Like unknown PCI device). From the pop-up window that opens left click on, update driver. Load your Asus CD into your CD-ROM drive. (Follow, Hardware Update Wizard screens).
Point windows to the correct sound folder on the CD. Click on the correct folder so its high-lighted, than click OK. Windows will do the rest. When you first got the board the jumper settings for sound are set for AC97. See top of page 1-30.
If windows does not detect the sound device while in windows device manager, it is possible the onboard sound chip is defective. Asus warrants their boards for 3 years. You may need to call Asus for an RMA & send the board back. Call Asus tech first at, 812-282-2787 IL EST. M-F 8:00AM-4:00PM
Call, 510-739-3777 for RMA
Below is the link for your board;

After formatting the computer I reinstalled everything and sound card won't work. Device manager can't re-install driver nor will it let me remove it completely. Any suggestions?

Update the driver rather than un-installing, this will over write the existing file.

Corrupted Audio Card

Was it corrupted by a power surge? Did you plug the speakers into the audio card jack while they were on and you heard a crackle or pop? If so, power off the machine, unplug it, touch a nearby metal object to ground yourself, open the case, disconnect any wires to the card, remove it from the motherboard and then put it back in. Reverse the steps and then power it back on. It should work.

If it still doesn't....

Go to the manufacturers website and find the support page. Download any necessary drivers for your audio card. Open them and they'll auto-install (usually). If it still doesn't work then try your card on another machine somewhere else to verify if it's fried or not.

Good luck!!
