Asus p5gc-mx/1333 cpu fan error
There are usually three wires on a fan to connect to mother board 1 red "+" positive, 1 black "-" negative and 1 yellow which feed the bios with information about the fan, i.e. how many rpms it is running at. To check the fan you will need to open the pc by taking the side panel off, you should do this when the computer is running or you will not be able to check the fan is working or not, but be carefull not to touch anything inside the case. If the is not spinning check the cable is in the socket properly by turning the computer off first, if it is you will need to replace it, other wise the processor will burn out. If the fan is spinning then the bios is not receiving the infornmation from the fan, therefore you need to shut down the pc and unplug from mains and check the cable(give it a littke wiggle) and make sure it is making a good connection, try blowing any dust of the connectors, power the pc again and if the bios is still giving you the same message you will definatly need a new fan, you can by them from any pc store, take the old one with you to ensure you get the correct size fan.

One of my ddr2 ram slot is not responding
1. Shut down your computer & unplug the power cord.
2. Try cleaning the slot where the RAM module did notwork using non-oily contact cleaner spray.
3. After spraying the cleaner into the slot, use a brush made of animal hair to clean the slot.
4. Leave it for about 10 minutes to make sure that the liquid totally evaporated off the slot.
5. Install your memory module & power on the PC to test.
6. If it still did not work, swap the 2 memory modules & try again.

Hi,
My best advice is to go to
www.crucial.com and run their System Scan Tool.
It will tell you what you have, what kind it takes, what the max is, and a few other things too. It works well. Go to the site above and click on the "scan your computer" link. You have to accept the download, but it is safe. I've used it many times.
Thanks for using Fixya.

My computer restarts by itself in a never ending loop
I have had this happen to my computer multiple times. Once it was because the system was overheating due to the CPU fan and case fan being dead, and the second time it was due to a short in the power supply. I would check either of those two things.

Head phones don't work
HI,
if it,s the on-board sound thats the problem.
You can rectify this by purchasing a seperate PCI Sound Card.
These are not expensive, 10 minutes to fit.
The other option, is to ensure that you have the correct Device driver installed. i.e realtek for a realtek sound chip et,c.

I changed out case and
You will need to attach the little jumper style connectors from the new case to the motherboard. There are a bunch of loose looking wires with little plastic connectors on the end of them. You will want to look at the manual for your motherboard to find the actual pin layout. They will be labeled on the board as well, but very small.
Grab the manual for your board from asus.com under support / downloads.
Hope this helps

Your MB is warranted for three years. Call Asus tech.

Find the sticker on your parallel port. (Only seen from within your case). Write down all information to paper. You will need this info when talking to tech. If board is faulty make sure you receive a case number before you hang up.
Good luck!
