Soap dispenser not work

Hello Sean Radler - Confirm that water action is reaching the dispenser; water sprayed from the lower wash arm is directed at the dispenser, reposition any dishes that may be obstructing the water from reaching the detergent cup. Make sure items in the dishwasher do not prevent the detergent dispenser from opening (like tall dishes or cookie sheets). If these items do not correct the issue, there may be a problem with the detergent cup opening. Contact a professional to move forward accurately.

Electricity consumptioin

Hi carmen_ordon - Generally speaking there isn't an exact consumption of how much electricity a dishwasher consumers. It depends on a many variables, like supply water temperature at start up, which cycle is selected, how long it has to delay the cycle, etc.

Door latch not working on Frigidaire 18 in.

Hi -

The issue may lie with the door latch; a door switch is used to start and stop your dishwasher. It's a safety feature that won't allow water to flow with the door open. With a faulty door switch, there is a chance your dishwasher won't start at all. Dishwasher door switches are about an inch long. They are usually black but can be red. There are metal prongs on the body of the switch called terminals. Some door switches have two terminals and some have three. If your door switch is OK, check the timer assembly. This controls when and how long power is sent to other controls on your dishwasher. If these controls don't receive power, they won't work. The timer assembly contains a motor. Check this motor as well. It is often cheaper just to replace the timer motor rather than the complete assembly. My last suggestion is to check the cycle selector switches. These switches indicate cycles for washing, drying, and setting the temperature of the water. If one of your switches is the problem your dishwasher may not start. Dishwasher cycle selector switches tell the timer which cycle to run by opening and closing electrical circuits. Most selector switches are six to eight inches long. They are usually black and have terminals. By testing each one of these parts with an ohmmeter you should be able to determine why your dishwasher is not working. It is possible for other parts to fail but these are the most common parts to check. If any proves to be ineffective, I strongly suggest contacting a professional to move forward accurately.

The lower left hand corner

Hi

The issue is with the water not draining as something might be blocking the drain pump assembly thus the water is leaking. To solve this issue you'll have to take the front lower access panel out and then clean the drain pump assembly completely, also clean the impeller and chopper assembly located at the bottom of the unit. After this is done the issue should be resolved, if not then check the float switch mechanism and make sure that is fine. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Door LOCKED - we cannot

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

The problem is with the door lock-latch assembly that is bad and needs replacement. However, to open the locked door use Allen wrench or a coat hanger L shaped wire. Insert the short end of the wrench oven the top of the door so that it goes easily oven the top with the L shaped part facing toward the floor. After this slide the wrench over till it contacts latch strike and make sure the L end of the wrench is pushing up on the latch strike and as you rotate the wrench the L end will push up on the latch and release the door so that you can replace the door latch mechanism. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

No water is getting to the dishwasher

Hi

When the Dishwasher is not filling in, you'll need to check for the water inlet valve, the filter screen and the float switch/assembly. Also check for the float assembly inside the dishwasher. When water is filling your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. As the float reaches a certain threshold level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling. Sometimes it can happen due to float valve and on other occasions due to float switch. Inspect the water hose coming to the dishwasher for any blockages. If these are fine then it's due to Water Inlet Valve. Use a multimeter and check for the continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance. Daniel

Check the level. If it isn't level it won't drain properly. If not check the air clear on top of the sink. If that isn't it, check the waste gate is clear by the drain pump.

My dishwasher leaves a white

If your dishes or glassware appear filmy or spotted following a complete wash cycle, adjusting the amount or type of detergent you’re using and adjusting your hot water heater’s water temperature may solve the problem. But before you do either of these, put a rinse additive (such as Jet-Dry) in the rinse dispenser to improve the sheeting action of the water.

Next, you’ll have to determine whether the film is removable or permanently etched. To do this, soak a glass in undiluted white vinegar for about 15 minutes. Or, wash the glass with warm water and concentrated dishwasher detergent or a high-phosphate detergent (such as Glass Magic).

If the film comes off, it is probably caused by hard water minerals, improper amounts of detergent, or unsuitable water temperature.

Permanent etching is often caused by a combination of soft water and excessive heat or detergent. If glassware is permanently etched, there isn’t anything you can do to make it clear again. But you can avoid future etching by taking these steps:

1) Be sure hot water entering the dishwasher is no hotter than 140 degrees F. Don’t use extra-hot settings such as “Power Scrub,” and use the “Energy Saver” dry cycle.

2) Adjust the detergent amount.

3) Don’t pre-rinse your dishes before loading them in the dishwasher. Food particles on the dishes actually help the detergent and drying agents clean better.

A common cause of poor washing results is improper loading—dishes that block or impede the spray arm(s) or prevent the soap dispenser from opening. On the other hand, if your dishwasher has chronic problems with good washing, the problem may not be your dishwasher. A good first step is vary the amount of dishwasher detergent you're using and try switching brands.

Other possibilities: Your home’s water pressure may be too low, your water may be too hard, or the water temperature may not be hot enough.

In order for your dishwasher to fill to the appropriate level, water pressure should be from 20–120 pounds per square inch. If you suspect that your water pressure may be low, turn off all faucets or other users of water (such as washing machines and sprinklers) and then put a half-gallon jug under the kitchen faucet. Turn on the hot water full-blast. If the jug doesn’t fill within 14 seconds, your water pressure may be too low for proper dishwasher operation. Call your city water utility to discuss your options, or avoid drawing water elsewhere in the house or yard during dishwasher cycles.

The right amount of detergent to use depends on how large your load of dishes is and how hard your water is. Hardness is measured in grains of minerals—the more grains per gallon you have, the more detergent you’ll need. If your water has 12 grains or more of hardness, fill both dishwasher soap cups completely with detergent. If that doesn’t work, consider installing a water softener. (For more information, see the article Water Softener Systems.

To check water temperature, hold a meat thermometer under the hot water faucet for two minutes; if it doesn’t register a minimum of 140 degrees F., turn up the temperature dial on your hot water heater. (However, if you have a newer dishwasher that heats the water internally, it isn’t necessary to turn up your hot water heater.)

If your dishwasher has worked fine in the past but suddenly your dishes aren’t clean after the dishwasher completes all cycles, listen to the spray arm(s) spinning inside during the wash cycle. If spinning poorly, wait for the machine to cool down, remove the spray arm(s) by unscrewing the hubcap(s), lifting the arm(s) off, and then cleaning out the spray holes in the spray arm(s) with a stiff piece of wire.

The dishwasher stopped working after one use.

Make sure the under-sink water connection valve didn't get turned off by someone. Also, check the entire length of the inlet water line for any kinks or pinches. Does the machine make a loud 'click' (the inlet water solenoid) when it calls for water. If no click and no water comes in, remove the lower front panel and inspect the water solenoid--it should have two wires coming to it. If ok, suggest calling for warranty service (if machine is new) at this point. Good luck!

Hello, last night I noticed

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter. Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines. First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. If you have checked the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
