HP w19 19" LCD Monitor Questions & Answers
My hp pavilion a6403w pc monitor does not start up
The only possible download that could cause this is some graphics program or games program.
The problem could be your computer's graphics card. Try connecting a different monitor to your computer to see if you get a normal Windows image. If you get a image on this monitor then the fault is with the HP monitor. If you see a faint image on the HP's LCD screen then the fault could be a faulty inverter board that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or the CCFL lamp maybe faulty.

HPw19 monitor: Has power to it; it acts like it's
It may have dyong power supply due to bad caps like all other LCD monitors.
If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed HP monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

My screen is black nothing
-check the cables on the monitor and disconnect and reconnect it
-if issue still persist you can check the cable of the monitor for broken pins (vga cable the one with blue connector)
-if there are broken pins then the cable could be the problem
-if not you can try to connect the monitor to another computer or connect the computer to another monitor
-if you connect another monitor to the computer and it works fine then the first monitor you have is broken
-but if you connected the monitor to another computer and it works then it could be the video card of the computer.

probably bad electrolytic capacitors on the power board.. replace any swollen ones, but best replace them all as rest will soon fail also..
My HP vs19e monitor takes almost 5 minutes to
most common problem is bad electrolytic capacitors if unit is a few years old. Take it apart and replace any swollen, ie bulging top of the aluminium can... but may be 'off-value' if not swollen. Any electronics from China will fail within 3 years due to bad electrolytic caps..
Remove cover from HP w2408h monitor
pop the roundish 'HP' cover of the back of the stand. Remove the 4 black screws and the stand comes away. The case is just a clamshell affair, the main piece is the rear cover, the LCD front plastic border locks into it. The screen with components mounted is sitting loose in the back cover once the front border is removed. The trick is to pry off the front border without damage. Hook the fingers under the border where it lays against the LCD screen, wiggle, pull, curse and do it again. The top and bottom borders come loose easier than the end borders. Once these are popped free, stand the unit on end between your knees and pry away the end borders. A wide putty knife slipped between the border and metal frame will save your fingers but don't damage the screen. When the front border is off, lay the unit face-up on a table, undo the screws for the control panel and power switch modules, flip it over and lift off the back panel. Everything is under a metal casing.. I had no voltage from the power supply, trying to find a Fairchild chip SG6902SZ on the small control module, P/N ILTR-003, else the Pwr Bd, P/N ILP-004..
