NO BATTERY DETECTED
First of all, try removing the battery. Hold the power button on the laptop for about a minute while it is disconnected from the mains and the battery. The re-insert the battery. Hopefully it will charge now. If not I would recommend trying a replacement battery.

Hello,
I have a problem with my Optiarc DVD RW
Go to device manager from control panel, click on computer , click check for new hardware, should sort problem , windows update should find drivers for you. be patient windows/ microsoft support can sometimes take a while to find solution, good idea to log of for an hour and go back online dont know why but seems to be quicker when there servers are looking for you while you are disconnected. it can take twenty four hours to sort if you are unlucky but usually sorts problem.

I am unable to boot my Sony VGN-NR220E laptop. When I attempt to Restore Complete System, I get errors 305:64, 319, 320, and Task Failed with Error:-1. Any suggestions?
Have you tried doing a factory reset? this does mean that you will lose any programs / files that were on your hard drive but should mean that you are able to restore the original bios/ operating system. If this fails you have a couple of other options :firstly take the battery out leave for ten minutes and reinsert , this should reset the system /bios files as mentioned before ( probably what I would do, then go to Sony support website and download bios, drivers etc for your model then re-install original programs as installed by Sony.If computer still wont boot , connect Via straight through cable , (ethernet type of cable, the sort you use to attach to phone line through modem) to another computer and it should be picked up as an external hard drive , once this is accomplished log on with computer 2 and proceed as mentioned above -- hope this info is helpful. if its any consolation I have had to re-boot a few computers over time and i do not bother with recovery discs any more they dont mean anything to any other system than the one they were encoded for and so are a waste of space for recovering anything !!!! better of backing up files from download folder as install / execute files and buying software through safecart , whenever I have needed to re-install lost software they are most helpful and are usually able to give me my software activation codes back within 24 hours which I then save to a word /office etc document and back up on a data disc for future reference. Sony website has original software for all models since about 1990 so again it is possible to retrieve any system as long as everything essentially is in working order, you are not alone , we have all lost an operating system or too at one time or another ,goes with the territory!! Have fun and be patient , blessings, John

WINDOWS FAILED TO START
Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
This can be a rather easy fix please try these solutions
remove the power cord from the machine and take out the battery pac then press and hold in on the power button for 30 seconds then plug in the machine without the battery now try to turn it back on if all works well let it boot up and then turn it off as you would normally do then replace the battery and restart but if this doesent work then you will need to repeat the first 2 steps then remove the memory chips 1 at a time and try everything again and if it now starts then you know that you have a bad memory stick. ok and if this all still does not help than your power supply is bad and needs to be repaired or replaced ok
Hope this all helps please keep me posted on how this is going
Best regards Mike

How do i access the recovery partition on a sony
If the recovery software was put on a second partician, you would access it by turning on the pc and watching the lower right side of the screen during start up to read what keys are necessary to start the recovery process. You didn't mention what operating system you are using and each one has a different key to enter the bios and second partician area. It is usually F2, or delete. Some use F8. It will tell you what key to enter the area during the start up before the windows screen is displayed.
If the recovery software is not on a second partician of your hard drive, then go into system recovery using windows (start, programs, accessories, system tools and then slide over to system recovery) and just follow the prompts.
if you have the system recover disks, put one in the drive and restart the pc until it launches using it and then follow the prompts.
