How do you master reset it.
Hi There and Welcome to Fixya.
In order to do a "complete recovery" to restore this computer back to the factory defaults, here's the procedure. Note: Ensure that you have the recovery CD with you to complete the process, if you don't then you can order the disc through the manufacturer (see link at the bottom):
- Ensure that the computer is turned off
- Disconnect all USB devices except mouse and keyboard
- Turn on the computer and immediately start pressing on "F11" key
- When the recovery manager starts, follow the on screen instructions until completion
For more information/options surrounding this, you may visit the below link :

Screen won't work on presario v6000
If the machine powers up for a second, then turns off it's probably not the display. It could be any number of issues from a bad processor to a bad power inverter. You'll have to bring it somewhere to have it serviced. I'd strongly recommend finding a small privately owned shop, not something big like Geek Squad.

Computer does not boot up.
Sure, just press the Esc key to access the boot order - in it select the cd as the boot device. Just make sure the disk is already in.

I have a Compaq V6000 laptop. When I try and start
With an extensive use of the notebook,
some times notebook would store some static charges which
indeed will stop the notebook from powering up or charging
the battery. The procedure to remove this static charges from
the notebook is known as power drain. Performing a power
drain procedure will not effect any personal data or delete
any pictures from the hard drive on your notebook.
I recommend you use Power Drain procedure by following these
steps:
1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
4. Reconnect the AC adapter.
5. Turn on the Notebook power.

Not Turn on
you should have changed the processor before only when the sound started.i think you will have to change your motherboard now as your laptop is not responding at all
so do not worry much, all you have to do is change the motherboard and it will be perfectly fine and do not worry much. Thanks

Laptop does not start
Hi,
The loud buzzing was most likely your CPU (processor) fan dying of bust bearings. The CPU is supposed to shut down your pc before it burns out but some intel processors no longer have this feature.
The first step is to find your laptop on the HP support website, and then look for the service manual. You'll need a small philips (crosshead) or posidrive screwdriver and a guitar pick (or similar)
You need to take out the fan, order a new one from ebay and replace. If that doesn't fix it, you need to do the same with the CPU.

My hard drive burnt out. The hard drive test says
Try the recovery console from a windows xp recovery/install disk:
To run the Recovery Console from the Windows XP startup disks or the Windows XP CD-ROM, follow these steps:
1.Insert the Windows XP startup disk into the floppy disk drive, or insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer.
Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD-ROM drive if you are prompted.
2.When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
3.Select the operating system you want to repair (you may have only one option).
4.When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.
5.At the command prompt, type the appropriate commands to diagnose and repair your Windows XP installation. From here I would try "chkdsk /r" and "fixboot"
For a list of commands that are available in Recovery Console, type recovery console commands or help at the command prompt, and then press ENTER.
For information about a specific command, type help commandname at the command prompt, and then press ENTER.
6.To exit the Recovery Console and restart the computer, type exit at the command prompt, and then press ENTER.
Once you've done this restart the computer and see if it boots up.

The computer boots up but
The best and easiest way to test is to connect an external monitor to this laptop. If it works, then you can start shopping around for a monitor.I would also suggest you try ebay where you could get it for a bargain price if you look carefully.Make sure you ask the required questions from the seller. Now if your external monitor does not power on then you have a more serious problem. It could be a problem with the vga graphic card which will cost a lot more to fix. This will require specialist tool and you wont be able to fix unless you change the whole motherboard.Hope this helps.
