Unable to load windows got an error 0x80070057

What causes Error 0x80070057

# Windows Update simply has an issue with your "SoftwareDistribution" folder.

# This appears to be an issue with the program Netop which enters a driver entry into the enum\root\unknown key in the registry.

# You have old versions of OKI drivers installed.

To resolve this error, use one of the following methods:

Resolution Suggestion One:

# Try renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder:

Click Start, Choose Run.

In the Run box, type: services.msc

Click OK.

Right-click the Automatic Updates service.

Click Stop.

Stopping the service will take a moment.

Now rename the "SoftwareDistribution" folder:

a) Click Start, click Run, type

%systemroot%

...and then click OK.

b) Right-click the SoftwareDistribution folder, and then click Rename.

c) Type SoftwareDistribution.old and then press ENTER to rename this folder.

Now click Start, and choose Run.

In the Run box, type: services.msc

Click OK.

Right-click the Automatic Updates service.

Click Start.

Starting the service will take a moment.

NB - You will lose your update download history but this is not that important compared to not being anle to download the updates!

Now Try WU website again.

Resolution Suggestion Two:

# Customer will see error 0x800A138F when scanning for updates, but the Windows Update.log file will show error 0x80070057:

This appears to be an issue with the program Netop which enters a driver entry into the enum\root\unknown key in the registry.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\
{63C35530-D3DF-11D3-8F5D-0060B0A3612B}\0000]
"ProviderName"="Danware Data A/S"
"DriverDesc"="NetOp Driver 3 ver. 7.00 (2002014)"
"DriverDate"="Jan 14 2002"
"DriverVer"="7.00 (2002014)"
"MatchingDeviceId"="danware_netop_driver3"

Both the DriverDate and DriverVer are not formatted properly

Visit http://www.netop.com/tech/download/fix/fixwinup.exe
and run this executable If you are running the Netop software.

(NB - Sadly this file has now been removed from their website.)

------------------------------

Resolution Suggestion Three:

# Update drivers for your OKI device:

Typically folk complain of problems with OKI B4300 drivers and OKI Page 14ex drivers installed...

Visit http://www.oki.com and update your device drivers.

Headphone jack works but no sound

I had this problem too, only there was zero sound, even when I clicked Test. I know the jack is good because it's never done any of the typical crackling or cutting out when the cord is pulled in a certain direction, etc. - I knew it had to be a setting of some kind. So here's how I solved this particular problem:[N.B. - This is in Windows 7 OS] I went into Control Panel -> Hardware & Sound -> Sound -> Manage Audio Devices. In the popup window's Playback tab (which comes up by default,) I right-clicked on Headphones, then clicked Properties. The new popup window's General tab comes up as default; I clicked on the Levels tab, where there's a slider control for headphone volume. For whatever reason, this was set to 0. I changed it to 100 and I immediately got sound. 'Clicked OK, and exited Control Panel. .

No power. No power indicator LED. The unit appears

It's quite possible that your power brick and/or battery are dead. If thats the case the laptop should still work fine. If external power parts are fine the internal components that manage power may be broken or loose. Another possibility is that the cpu got to hot and shut down automatically. In which case you need to wait a while before turning back on. With most of these cases you'll probably need to have it looked at by someone.

Blue screen comes up need help computer running slow

Do ALL your Windows and Toshiba updates. There are two freeware programs to start with. 1, MALWAREBYTES: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ In the install UNCHECK the TRIAL PRO version, you want the freeware version, run a FULL scan, delete ALL results. 2, CCLEANER : http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ Use this to remove the junk from your machine. In the TOOLS section, select Startup, disable ALL unnecessary startup programs to speed the machine. Open Control Panel, select Power Options, set to High Performance, open Change plan settings, set Sleep and Hibernate to Never, set Advanced Power settings to your preference. Here are some other tips for Vista: http://www.pcworld.com/article/143538/windows_vista.html

My Toshiba Satellite A215-S7437 will not boot.

you should see the post screen if the monitor is working. try hte fn and the monitor or display key. some laptops toggle the display this way. another possibility is the lid switch that shuts off the display when you close the lid. and it could be heat damage.

Hi, I bought a new Toshiba L850 today, installed Windows 7 (64 bit) and immediately attempted to create recovery discs (on quality Imation DVDs). I got the error described above and googled this site.This error prevents you from creating recovery discs. I have contacted both Toshiba support and support for the franchise that I bought the computer at. On another site a user reported the same problem and also contacted Toshiba support - "The second technician I talked gave me 3 options: send in the computer at a shipping cost (about $25), take it to the place I bought it, or pay for recovery disks ($29.95)". I'll be taking this computer back - it looks like it's broken out of the box.

Cant find cmos battery on toshiba satellite A215-S4757

Zoom in on the first picture from the link below:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toshiba-Satellite-A215-AMD-Motherboard-K000053710-CPU-A215-S4757-A215-S4817-/170847961281#vi-contentThis is a picture of your motherboard. The RTC (CMOS) battery is the little light blue and silver circle in the lower left part of the motherboard(about 1cm from the left edge of the board and 4 cm from the bottom edge of the board). It's much smaller than a standard desktop's cmos battery (2032). You should be able to pop the tiny 2 pin connection out of the tiny slot there to reset it.
